Hey guys, so I just recently paint matched my grille using a can from American touch up, it’s pretty close to perfect but just doesn’t have that shine the real paint does (see pics below). I sanded and applied a base/clear coat, no primer. it’s doesn’t bother me too much but I’m going to be painting some of the interior plastic like the ac trim and steering wheel plastic and I want to get those right. Any tips to help get that shine / for painting those interior parts?

This is the glossiest rattle can clear I have ever used.

On a side note, rock chips punish rattle can painted grills. Get that touch up pen ready!

You need 3 to 4 coats of clear to make it look good. You may have to wet sand after that with 1500/2000 grit and then polish depending on how the clear went down.

Will need 2-3 coats and no sanding is needed between coats. You will achieve a “wet look” gloss with this product.

2k spray max from Route 66 auto color works really well. Clear coat is mixed in with base coat. Just a thought

This is similar to what I use when I paint plastic.

It takes time to get to that shine. Multiple clear coats and, sand and polish with polisher.
