This part on my truck has gone 'wavey'. Assuming others have the same issue? Anyone know the part number? 16631112121896436787768807301973~2.jpg

Never saw that happen before, did your truck overheat in the past? I wouldn’t worry too much about replacing it

No, never over heated. I'm the original owner. Maybe just getting a few wrinkles with age. Purlely cosmetic reasons for wanting to replace it, as long as part cost is reasonable.

I have that part off right now as I just replaced the water pump and radiator. It looks good without it, and I like that I can see between the condenser and radiator - I would have seen the plastic bag stuck on the outgoing radiator that was somehow sucked in there. I am inclined to leave it off.

Edit: now that I think about it, I believe there is a second cover going over the opening. Regardless, engine bay looks good to me without those parts.

Now I'm curious to see what mine is hiding underneath.

Did you do the water pump/rad just because it was old and to avoid unplanned repairs, or was there an issue? As my truck gets older, I'm beginning to make a mental list of things I should replace to avoid unplanned repairs. Alternator is up there and also the cooling system.

Note the adjacent wavy/warped rubber seal on the hood's underside, which reminds me of this thread from last year: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/adhesive-for-reattaching-rubber-hood-seal.743308/

From the little bit that I can tell in the pic for a 12 year old Canadian truck your engine bay looks pretty mint, so I'm curious if you treat your truck with any type of rust inhibitor like Fluid Film, etc.? Reason I ask is if you check out that thread I referenced it appeared as if the Fluid Film potentially caused the OP's seal to warp, so I'm wondering if you possibly have something similar going on here? :notsure:

Yes, preventive maintenance was my intent, but after removing the fan clutch, I find out the water pump bearing had some play. So, glad I changed it out. Also replaced the fan, fan clutch, thermostat, and ATF hoses.

Great call! Sprayed annually at Krown. Funny, both parts you marked are the only ones that show any type of damage. If caused by the Krown spray, which I suspect it is based on the other link you provided, it's a minor issue relative to the rust protection benefit.
