Why not just go over it with the same color dip? More layers is better for dip anyways. My roof is starting to show its age. It's a lot lighter colored and has some stains on it. I've had the whole truck dipped for maybe 3.5 years. I've been wheeling with it and tree branches scraping all up on it don't even affect it. Mud either.

    After pressure washing it (GASP!)

Only thing that remotely looks like shit is the roof.

I plasidip my rear bumper once... that didn’t last long. Now i just normal spray aint it so i can just fix any damage in 2 second lol
But that doesn’t help the op...
I would just have the shell probably painted and color matched but thts just me i dont like the look of mismatched shells on trucks

What color dip did you use? I have noticed that black doesn't hold up very well. You could try using some plastidip clear over it. That may help you.

I wouldn't recommend that because I highly doubt you'll be able to "peel" it off later. If you just want to bedline it, just peel off the dip and go from there. But bedliner will fade with time too. Only thing I've seen hold up to fading is LineX Premium.

I "dipped" my fender flairs like a year or so ago, maybe longer. Sanded them down to the plastic, primered, then painted (plastidiped) them with at least 5 coats.

I haven't been on that may tight trails since then, and while they seem to hold up relatively well to brush scratches, there's also a lot of it pealing off, too. If I were to do it again (and I just might), I'd go with a smooth bed liner type material instead.

    I feel like that’s a bad idea.

I don’t know what your plan is but if it’s too peel off the bed liner at a later date I don’t think it’ll work.

And I also don’t think the bed liner will last as long. I think it’ll chip off a lot easier and pretty much just leave you with a big expensive mess.

Sucks that there is no inbetween for painting plastic. Its either paint or bedliner. Atleast with metal you can get it powder coated which looks better then linex and is lighter then linex but strong then paint

Yeah, I'd agree. Part of the strength of the bed liner is its bond to the metal.
