Well the time has come I fixed my AC and I need a plate bumper on my truck,

Anyone have a lead on a friend if there's trying to get rid of there's?

I'm scared to build one cause I'm a big baby and I got no idea where to start :annoyed:

My core suport is bent that's why I want a plate bumper Vs a tube bumper, i would like to cover the damage

My attempt at throwing ideas around to how I could build a bumper with tubes and then just use sheet metal to fill it in and have it sent out for sand blasting and powder coat,

I really have no idea what I'm doing, I'll start measuring at lunch and maybe start the first part, please If someone has a idea of who would sell one for a good price still let me know ,

That's a really good idea, I honestly have to many machines, materials and tools to go buy that, and my trucks been smashed so I don't think it would line up corectly,

Do you have any pictures of just that mounting plate, preferably the rear of the bracket

I don't have a pic of the rear but here's what it looks like mounted, fits right over the frame and comes with mounting bracket for the skid plate.

Interesting idea to have the frame rails go through the mounting plate, those rails on my truck where you took off the bash bar, mine are bent I wonder if that would still work or if it's to tweaked I might as well build my own that'll fit with my taco'd taco

    Head unit. That's it.
Just cut the frame horns off. That's what most do with 98-00 tacos.

Do you have any pictures of you building your custom bumper? In about 4 hours Im going to start to cut some stuff and see if it mounts up or if this is all going to be a waist of time cause I don't have patients

All the pics I have were in the link above, I started out with building a shelf, all my plate was cut out with a cutting disc and slowly ground down to a straight line with a flap disc, it took forever!

    What tools/machines you working with?

Oh I just saw that link,

I got a fabrication shop at my disposal

I got a few punch machines that you'd of killed to use back then, punch every piece out in 30 seconds with perfect edges, but my problem is im afraid to start welding to my frame I've never done it before and I'm nervous to fuck shit up I just wish I had an idea of where to start honestly I'm going to build my own plate that you got in going to see how that goes and if that all works out then I'll start to build off that

I'll take tons of pictures, I'm going to start with a 1/4th thick 6 inch plate to cut holes for the frame to go through then I'll make side plates to weld onto my frame trying to make this bumper so that way next time I hit someone or somthing I hopefully won't wreck it, but I'm sure I'll just destroy my frame ...

Trying my hardest to look at trail-gear's product and not match it 100%

That's never any fun, but I do wonder why they made it like a box on top instead of a plate, makes me think I need to re think how I'm going to weld this onto my bent up frame rails might just box them with 3/8th sheet metal and make it so they'll never get hurt again, I'll take pictures of damage at lunch

if it gives you any ideas o started off making a frame out of 2x2 3/16" first with 1/4" mounts. i plated over after with the plating flush to edge. i left room for winch plate when i get one.
