Platinum warranty

Has anyone had issues with Toyota and the platinum warranty?

On my Tacoma I got the platinum w/ cosmetic. I’ve used it when I got a chip in my windshield and it was no problem.

However, the lady had a 19’ Camery and she got the platinum as well, and we asked the dude like 6 times if he was sure that the platinum package would cover glass and body and he said yes, the she gets a chip in her windshield and they are saying her warranty doesn’t cover it. I think the finance guy flat out lied (if that’s any surprise) and said it was good to go. Different dealership from where I got the Tacoma.

 

Extended warranties are a scam! Nobody turns down cold hard cash but you pull out a warranty and they act like your spending their money. Should probabaly be covered but they'll try to get you to pay first

 

She should have got a document stating what is covered and what is not covered. There are many different protection plans out there, and sometimes a dealership has thier own internal plan. Best to go through all the paperwork and find it to know for sure.

 

Your auto insurance should cover “Glass”.

 

It does. The theme of this isn’t me not able to fix the window. Even if my insurance didn’t, it would cost a wapping $50 to repair.
I posted this to hear about other peoples
experience with the warranty in general.

 

I don't recall seeing glass coverage in the Toyota Platinum Warranty, maybe that is an additional thing they sell.

 

Usually a chip in the windshield is a comprehensive claim (damage from an impact) not a defect. They won't fix stone dings in your paint with a warrantee either.

 

Any chance you or the lady actually read what you chose to drop big bucks on before you bought it? Or now that you want to use it, but have been denied?

Regardless what TW says, the finance guy said or the service manager says, the written terms of your warranty will prevail.
