ok first thread I've made so don't bully me into the ground. i keep seeing all these people using their car's head unit displays as a monitor for either an xbox, ps4, etc. and i went to see if i could in my 3rd gen. sadly no hdmi or av outlets, is it still do-able with usb 3.0s? could a converter use the head unit as a proper display? make my dreams a reality

The input lag would make this unusable.

If you want games on the vehicle I would stick to a portable display or swap to an android head unit and use game emulators.

I have done this. But the problem is you’re running a digital HD signal into an rca/hdmi converter. The issue is the head unit screen are really low res, add that and compression and get a picture that’s not really worth it. You’d really want a monitor not a head unit.

ah ok, honestly i’m not worried about resolution, using the head unit would just be easier than carrying around a portable monitor. and it’s for jokes too of course

if i’m being honest there isn’t a good reason for it lol. using the head unit would just save me from carrying around a monitor and having to position said monitor in my truck so that the player could see it
