I took my 09 DC TRD in for a few issues (haunted radio, front wheel alignment, squeaky rear springs and the dreaded 1-2 transmission hunting). I got it as a demo with 7900 miles on it, now has 12,000. They could not duplicate the radio problems (turning on and off on it's own, changing channels on it's own), did the alignment at no cost under warranty, ordered some sort of spring pads to reduce the squeaking, and get this, they are going to replace the whole transmission under warranty! It did all the hunting and up/down shifting at slow speeds, but no codes were thrown, and the fluid level was fine. The service manger decided a new slush-box was needed, so i a week or so, I should have a new one! How cool is that?

So they refused to replace the radio but they're gunna drop in a new trans? I don't think that's gunna solve your trouble and I wouldn't want them tearing into my trans just cause. Who knows what'll happen after the stealership gets done funking around. The trans issue with the 09's is a problem with shift patterns, I don't think the actual trans has anything to do with it. Just my .02.

If they were planning on "fixing" the trans, I'd be more worried, but it's a whole new unit, so other than farking up the install, I'm not that worried. I would guess that the trans starts it's own 3/36K warranty, but maybe not.

The haunted radio is quite common. I know someone with an '09 with the same problem. I would press the dealership on the radio. They certainly know there is a problem there too.

I have that radio problem! It changed from fm to am today! Then it will just turn itself off, suddenly switch to a Tejano station (Nuttin wrong with Tejano, but not in the middle of my favorite tune). What is up with these radios??

The reason why Toyota is so good with their warranties is that their vehicles rarely breaks!

My '09 has the same radio problem. The dealership has ordered a new one and it should be in any time. The service department mentioned to me that they had an entire batch from a certain manufacturing plant and specific run that has had similar issues.

So should I take mine in? I have to go have them look at the brakes on Monday. Maybe I'll ask them about it.

If your is under warrantee, definately take it in and demand them to make it good. There are many threads in TW on this very problem. Do a search and make your decision. There is a problem with the radios and Toyota knows it. Demand your rights!!!

I will! I was hesitant to mention it because I kept wondering if I accidentally hit it, but its way over there! LOL!

I'll tell them about it when I go on Monday. ;)
