After struggling through the process to get the wire terminals needed to add the add'l wires required to add Cruise to a base model '09, still no cruise!
Added the wires from S8,1 to E7,31, and S8,2 to Ground.
I did check the stalk when still out, and it showed continuity with button push, and also the various resistances with lever movements. Also checked this through the "clock spring" at S8 when installed.
Have others making this install found more wires missing that need to be added? Apparently the later Tacomas had less prewired than earlier trucks.
What voltage should be present at the ECU connector E7 on pin 31?

I got my first 4x4 in 1972...haven't been without one! I still like Chrome!
The only wire I did anything to was under the airbag.....It grounded the stalk.. If you have a manual you have to add a clutch disconnect switch so the cruise will turn off when you hit the clutch, like it does the break..

I have the base 2009 double cab that did not have cruise from the factory.
I contacted "thecruisecontrolstore.com" and for $199 they sent me the kit, took less than 15 minutes to install, and looks just like factory.
Your truck should already have all the wires installed.
Just 2 wires behind the drivers side airbag.

Thanks for the response. Actually the 42page thread on this topic back in 2011 discovered that some 2008 trucks were prewired, and only needed the stalk connected behind the airbag (which I did). At the time, it was discovered that most trucks after 2008 were not prewired, and would need several wires added to get the cruise to work. I guess you got off easy! Good for you! I will contact the site you listed to see what they have to offer. Obviously, mine needs more than the control and the 2 wires behind the airbag.

    just two wires

I have made two hand-built cruise controls for toyotas, just need two wires,
    3 resistors and a 4 way switch
