Electronic or hydraulic or whatever you call it... Do you have it and does the actuator with the yellow top in the picture vibrate about every 3 times you press the brakes? Kinda sounds and feels like like a phone vibrating and you also feel it in the pedal. It happens when the truck is parked or moving.

It's an hydraulic accumulator for the power assist filling back up.

It's normal there are many hydraulic brake boosters out there in different manufactures vehicles. I maybe wrong but I think is't only on the TRD off road or one with a super charger the rest are vacuum boasters. The ideal is to store energy for power braking during repeated stops or when the engine is not running. There is a very powerful spring inside that moves a piston when the fluid is used for braking I would think if you looked there probably is some type of warning not to play with the device. That type of system has been around for a long time very often found on diesels I'm not up on the Toyota one so I'm sure some one on the site would know when it was first used and on what the concept is the same on every thing that uses it and they all act the same way.

Thanks for the replies, I cant believe that thing constantly running and vibrating is normal. Guy was over here a couple weeks ago and had an 09 off road with same setup and didn't vibrate like mine. Just wanted other people's experiences. Never felt it before the truck was given back to me after the frame was replaced. Also, why does my 05 dcsb sr5 have it when off roads are only supposed to?

It's only in the offroads. Pretty sure 4wd ones only. Atrac depends on it hah.

hmmmm, not sure. i do know that vcs lights up on the dash when i start the truck... there may be a button down there, but i cant really remember. I only owned the thing for a month before i took it in for the frame replacement and its been there forever. git it back a few weeks ago and have been dealing with issues since i got it. its now at the dealer and im waiting for a call today because they said they didnt find anything wrong with the brakes and they have to contact toyota about it.

I started feeling and hearing the vibrating one day after i realized the dealer left my rear passenger bleeder valve loose and brake fluid was all over the place. I tightened it up, leak was gone and vibration started.

I'd be willing to bet you have a debadged offroad.

When I was shopping for my truck the offroad was the only one with this booster that I saw

During a normal stop you probably will not notice it but if you push the brake several time in a short time it has to recharge the accumulator there is a lot of pressure involved.

thanks for the info, it just doesnt seem normal to me. I thought there would be a lot more complaining about it on here if it happened to everyone so frequently as mine...
