Please educate me on the factory sound system

I have a '14 SBDC with an Entune Audio Plus system and I plan on upgrading the speakers. Where is the cross over in the front door set up? For the tweeter can I cut the wire from the existing speaker and connect a new tweeter? Do I need to install an after market cross over along with it?
In the https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/premium-audio-upgrade-for-less-than-250.510424/ it shows the Subaru tweeter simply being plugged up and bolted in with no mention of a cross over leading me to think there is one already somewhere in the harness.

 

That thread was for 3rd Gen trucks. Their tweeters are in the dash board.

Us 2nd Gen (2005-2015) the Tweeter is in the door. Toyota got lazy/cheap. Power runs from the dash to the tweeter and then from the tweeter to the woofer in the door. If you replace your tweeter you'll need crossovers OR you'll need to get a solder gun out and piggy back from your tweeter to the woofer speaker.

 

I'm aware both speakers are in the door on the 2nd gens, but I noticed in the 3rd gen thread they replaced the tweeter by unplugging old and plugging in new. I believe the 3rd gen is still wired as the 2nd gens were.
