I'd say go for it. You're going to notice a significant amount of wind resistance but you can tow it.

Ideally you should ask the dealer to see if they will 'loan' you the camper for a day, load it up with everything you can think of and take it to a CAT scale.

I'm pretty sure I've overdone my Taco several times...
Once with a dual axle flat bed car trailer (pretty big and heavy duty for one car) with a 2000's honda odyssey on it that was loaded with a room full of stuff inside the van.... Not sure how much weight that was but.....certainly over the limits, driven on the highway about 60 miles away.
Most recent time with a dual axle covered uhaul trailer full of stuff and the truck also full of stuff... Cat scales had the entire rig just under 10,000 lbs... driven 1,300 miles from Texas to Vegas. Driven the whole way in 4th gear maintaining about 65 the whole way (minus hills obviously) and on KM2's (ha...whooops).

Went fine, no issues, handled good. Just noticed that my oil got dirtier faster than normal.

Tech it really is nice and its under $14,000 brand new. The dealer said he never seen one with 15" wheels like this has. More ground clearence in my eyes.

I figured wind resistance will suck because of the camper shape. As long as it's safe and it's not going to destroy my truck I'm going to go for it I feel im inside all the limits but I'm just triple-checking thanks for all the info

Yeah those small toy haulers always have everything important in the front and bedding in the back. It's the only way to do it.

The wife and I love it,only thing I dont like is the shower area has waterproof paneling with waterproof wall paper. I would have to install the plastic type shower pannels on the 2 walls. Not a huge deal,I also didnt want the big 13,500 btu a/c on the roof. I really wanted the 8,000 btu in the wall. Rooftops are a pain to work on. And it probably wont fit inside my already tall carport with that a/c unit on the roof. I can order one with wall unit but it will take 2 months or more to have built.

Dealer says he will install Fastway hitch rated for 800 tongue and 8,000 max for $300 seems good deal for the hitch

Im thinking firestone airbags in future will be nice

Now I just gotta make up my mind...I know she will tow it,but will it kill my baby lol? My 2005 only has 62,000 miles on it:fingerscrossed:

The firestone kit is the most common favorite on this site. There are others available, but apparently the best bang for buck is in the firestones. Ive heard good things about timbrens too, but they're non-adjustable.

Normally a reputable dealer will not/cannot sell you something that your truck cannot handle because of legal lawsuits. Take all your calculations to the dealer and have a sit down and discuss towing and limitations. Then go with his/her recommendation. They can ensure you don't miss calculate etc. They may even recommend a modification to ensure your able to haul it safely.

I would get a class 3 hitch and get off the bumper ball!

I'm running AirLift airbags. They were lower cost than the Firestones with the same warranty. I really like them.
    Camper looks nice.

How about going through a state like West Va. I've seen many bigger trucks struggling to pull their campers up them hills.

I just got off the phone with the people who build the camper. Turns out yes my trucks max tow of 6,500 will be fine but He said your gonna blow through the tongue weight of 650 lbs. when you go camping without your motorcycle. He went though the list with me of the vin# of camper...now keep in mind this is with empty camper with no gear in it.
    dry hitch weight 420#
    full 20 gal. propane 20#
    battery 46#
    fastway wd hitch hardware 80#
6 gallon hot water heater full 48#
Thats 614 without putting one single thing in the camper up front before its axle or with nothing in bed of my truck behind the rear axle of my truck

    The salesman thinks im crazy
