Hey all first post sorry it’s a trouble shooter. I have a 2006 v6. If the engine is cold like first thing in the morning or if it has been parked for more then 2hours it starts right up no problem 100% of the time.

If the motor is hot, it is about a 50/50 chance it will crank crank crank but not turn over. Sometimes it takes 10 individual try’s and then it will turn over.

The check engine light is on, throwing a P0340 code. Cam sensor bank A.

This is what I have replaced… (Both) Cam Sensors, Crank Shaft Sensor, Mass Air Flow Sensor, Temperature Coolant Sensor, The Starter, 2x Fuel Pumps.

Interestingly when I replaced the VVT Oil Control Valve (passenger side) and disconnected the battery, the code cleared and the truck ran Perfectly for two days. Then the same code came back P03040. And the truck is back to intermittent starting.

I have no clue what else to do or check, sorry if this is long and winded or posted in the wrong spot. I’m just super desperate I love this truck, I’ve had it for 15 years it’s my only work truck and there for my lively hood. Thanks guys.

This could be a hard one to figure out without an oscilloscope.
I'd like to know if the cam signal is nonexistent or too high/Low when this happens.
According to the service dats, there are only 2 things that trigger this code.
Too high or low voltage to the ECM for 5 or more seconds, AFTER 2 or more seconds have passed since the key was turned on.
Or, There is NO signal to the ECM when cranking.
