My factory hood scoop insert/bulge is faded horribly but rest of my hood is perfect. Im gonna take it to my brother in laws body shop and have it prepped and painted for $50. Would like some tips on removing it before I start the process. I dont want to scratch my hood when removing it. Does it come kinda up and out or will it sort of drag across the hood surface when removing it? I was thinking wash the truck and then mask off the spot where I will be sliding out the hood scoop. Thanks for any tips on removing the factory hood scoop bulge.

The front of the scoop will lift directly up once the nuts have been removed from the underside.

You can also remove it, wrap it in black vinyl, and reinstall. Or plasti-dip

Very Nice! I decided to just stay with silver streak mica for the scoop insert. Where the mounting bolt inserts go 2 of the holes are stripped out. Its plastic...Trying to figure out how to fix. Im thinking the white jb weld putty then. Re drill them? Any thoughts? Thanks

I stripped all of mine out using an impact drill to get them off..... I just squirted some Gorilla glue in the holes and twisted studs back in. By morning I was good to go.

thanks!! my brother in law is a body man. So he gave me something called jet black. Its in a futuristic looking calk gun that mixes the epoxy together as you squeeze. Its like jb weld on steroids...He did an amazing job painting hood scoop insert. I cant wait to get it back on the truck. I painted the screen of the insert using krylon fusion satin black. Im not gonna reuse the 10mm hex nuts. I'm gonna buy my own stainless steel lock nuts with nylon

Do these scoop inserts come with gaskets? Are they suppose to have a gasket? I'm replacing my factory hood with a scoop hood, had to order the insert and there is no gasket...
