Code 51 - B1800/51 Short in Driver Side Squib Circuit. 1. Instrument panel wire. 2. Spiral cable. 3. Steering pad (Driver side squib). 4. Center airbag sensor assembly.

Code 14 - B1615/14 Front Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction. 1. Instrument panel wire. 2. Engine room main wire. 3. Front airbag sensor LH. 4. Center airbag sensor assembly.

Code 43 - B1660/43 Passenger Airbag ON / OFF Indicator Circuit Malfunction. 1. Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator (Passenger seat belt warning light assembly. 2. Instrument panel wire. 3. Center airbag sensor assembly.

The dealer can reset these codes if you do not have the Techstream Software available.

There is a jumper you can install in the DTC3 Connector pins # 04 ( CG ) and # 13 ( TC ) to clear the codes

DTC CLEAR (USING SST CHECK WIRE) (a) Clear the DTCs.

    (1) When the ignition switch is turned off (turned to the lock position), the DTCs are cleared. HINT: Depending on the DTCs, the DTCs may not be cleared by turning off the ignition switch. In this case, proceed to the next procedure.

    (2) Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and then turn the ignition switch to the ON position. SST 09843-18040

    (3) Disconnect terminal TC of the DLC3 within 3 to 10 seconds after the DTCs being output, and check if the SRS warning light comes on within 3 seconds.

    (4) Within 2 to 4 seconds of the SRS warning light coming on, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

    (5) The SRS warning light should turn off within 2 to 4 seconds after connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3. Then, disconnect terminal TC within 2 to 4 seconds after the SRS warning light turning off.

    (6) The SRS warning light comes on again within 2 to 4 seconds after disconnecting terminal TC. Then, reconnect terminals TC and CG within 2 to 4 seconds after the SRS warning light coming on, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

    (7) Check if the SRS warning light turns off 2 to 4 seconds after connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3. Also check if the normal system indication is displayed within 1 second of the SRS warning light turning off. If DTCs are not cleared, repeat this procedure until the codes are cleared.

I believe there is a recall for the Spiral Cable. You could get the recall done and codes reset for free:D

Glad I could shed a little light for you! Best of luck for the horn. What happened? At least you can unplug the horn.

I think the horn also goes through the spiral cable. Yep it sure does. IMO - Check the horn relay and if it isn't stuck it will have to be a short to ground on the steering wheel side of the relay. The switch in the steering wheel just applies ground to the relay coil through the spiral cable when pressed. Like in the simplified print below. When the Horn Switch is pressed it completes the circuit to ground for the Horn Relay Coil to Ground. This closes the Horn Relay Contact which provides 12 VDC to the Horn and on to Ground. The 12 VDC comes from a common source from the 10 Ampere Horn Fuse.

From the Tacoma 2nd Gen Service Manuals.

    10 Amp Horn Fuse, 12 VDC > _________ > Horn Relay Coil > _______ > Spiral Cable > ___>Horn Switch > _____________ > Ground

    10 Amp Horn Fuse, 12 VDC > _________ >Horn Relay Contact > _____________________ > Horn > ___________________> Ground
