I have read every thread I can find on here and I'm having hard time deciding on which to order. I want to go with avid step bars because they seem to be of the highest quality and recommended for durability in salty winters. My only issue is I don't really like the aesthetic of avid step bars, or at least in the pictures I've seen. I like the way the sliders flow way better, but I'm concerned whether they will provide a true step for my passengers.

I also like the style of something like these Go Rhino's (the black ones), but I can't find anything about their durability, specifically in North East winter conditions. I'm not off roading, these will be for door-dinging protection and for my 5'3 girlfriend to have a proper step up.\
    [IMG]

My perfect bar would be something that looks like that black Go Rhino but has the strength and quality of AVID. I was hoping if others can post pictures of their AVIDs maybe I can appreciate them. I can't really describe what it is, I just personally don't feel they're very aesthetic.

Go with the stainless steel - the black painted ones always rust out.

I've got Avids welded on. Started out as steps, and then I got the parts to make them real sliders.

Yes I like the look of the sliders. Just from the picture it doesn't appear like it gives any proper spacing for someone to use as a step? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Biggest concerns are being a safe step for passengers and holding up to rust in NE winter.

Up here, anything but stainless rusts pretty fast. My stainless steel nerfs from TrailFX are guaranteed against rust for life. The black version was guaranteed for three years. I'd stick with stainless.

Well, they are a little tall for steps, but I'm lifted on 33's. I use it as a step every time I get in and out. They're also my jack points for my hi-lift.

Thank you, I hadn't seen those before. They are the style I want and a great price. Any pics of them on your truck?

These have about a six inch drop step and are stainless......I like the looks of them but I'm sure some here don't..probably most..lol. I'm 5'7" and they work well for me....I'm sure they would be perfect for your 5'3" gf. Only thing is,,,,they don't stick out enough to stop door dings.

I have a set I'd love to sell. Can't seem to find a pic on my phone. Chrome ones that came on the truck.

I put these on knowing full well they will rust out in 2-3 years. Sure, the chrome comes with a lifetime warranty, but black looks SO much better. These are just generic Nerf bars, my brother ordered them (he works at a body shop) and got me a killer discount. The dont even retail much over 225 bucks, ( I paid way less) so I dont have much invested in them. I live in Syracuse, we use salt on the roads like almost 7 months a year....NOTHING survives up here more than 3-4 years.

The problem is they arent low enough to be a step nor out far enough to get any real footing.....FOR ME, at 5'11......however, my wife of 5'2 LOVES them and no longer has to 'slide' out of the passenger set and jump to the ground. So all in all, Id say the cheapo's are worth it for me.
