Hey jay. Truly sorry to hear about this. My prayers are there. That highway is so dangerous. I used to live in Bend. I've seen people slide across into oncoming traffic a few times. The drunk driver needs to get what's coming to him! The law is for the lawless. Scumbag driver. Please keep us posted. My prayers are for you and the entire family. God bless you all. Steven

Best thoughts for her and everyone involved. Sounds like she is on the road to recovery. The young ones, as hard as it is to see them go through it, are pretty good at healing up and recovering. Us geezers (40+ lol) have the harder time trying to mend up after something that bad. Keep strong!

Thoughts and prayers to your Niece, other victims, and family. That is such a horrible thing to happen, and I'm dumbfounded that no one would have noticed how intoxicated that scumbag was.

I hope God watches over all the victims and leads them to a quick recovery.

Also, I hope that sack of shit rots in a cell. I HATE drunk drivers! There's absolutely NO excuse for that

When a link to a webpage is posted before a photo, many times a picture FROM that link ends up becoming the main picture for the thread.

OP, you can contact a mod, or you can put a picture of your niece at the beginning of your post and it should then show up as the primary photo. At least that is what I had to do once or twice.

I just want to clarify, seeing the home page link for this thread says she was "hit" by a drunk driver. That is not the case.

This was for a birthday party. They all rode together up to a kids pizza joint for a bday party for one of the kids. The guy driving was the father of my nieces friend (and assumed relationship to whoever party it was, since they were the ones who shuttled all the kids there and, most of the way back). He was the step father of the little girl that died.

There were 5 girls in his vehicle and him. There are reports the mother was near in another vehicle but we are not sure.

Apparently at this kids bday party, he got drunk. I do not know if any other adults were there or what went on. During the trip back to bring all the girls back to our town, he was witnessed driving erratic and then lost control. Killing his 7 year old step daughter, badly injuring his own 14 year old daughter (out of hospital now with some broken bones), critically injuring a 10 year old, and critically injuring my 14 year old niece Naomi. Another 7 year old was not injured.

He refused to go to the hospital as requested by the ambulance. He was not injured. They wanted his BAC. They finally got him to come. Then at the hospital at some point he tried to leave. They arrested him there.

This is worse than just a drunk driver, driving himself. He got trashed and let these 5 girls get in his vehicle and drove them. Whatever other adult that was there had to KNOW he was drunk and let HIM take all these girls in his vehicle. The girls were most likely playing games, etc to notice him drink so much, so they would not have questioned getting into a vehicle with an adult. As a kid you should NEVER have to question such a thing anyways. You have full faith that your lives are in their best interests. They were not that night.

Shame on whoever else was there that saw this take place and allowed this to happen. Shame on the mother who was there that let this happen. Shame on the pizza place for serving so much alcohol at a childs birthday party. This is not just a pizza place that they chose to hold a kids bday party at, this IS a kids pizza place. They have huge play area, games, etc.

I know this is weighing so heavily on my parents hearts allowing her to ride with this family instead of taking her and picking her up themselves. We should not have to worry of such things and expect adults to act like adults. :(

I have to drive this road every day for work. To and from, same road. I have to drive by where this little girl dies and where my niece almost lost her life which she is still clinging on to. Every day. I get tears in my eyes and my heart sinks to the floor every time. Then I fill with anger at this man... I try to think of something and not look.... I cannot.

    This should never have happened.
