    State of confusion, aka Flori-duh
    Vehicle:
    2017 Silver Sky 2x4 Limited
AMP Powerstep, UC Flex, bed lights, Opt7 Tailgate bar, black tailgate lettering Pending: re-configure tail light,s custom storage pocket bags, pinch weld painting, blackout badges, ......

Either you quoted the wrong post or you read something in my post I did not write. There was NO disclaimer. There was statement of FACT.

The only possible disclaimer was "Assuming his confusion is real....." which was a disclaimer for YOU.
There was also questions looking for for more information that CAN and WILL change the shift points not only in a Tacoma but also MOST any AT vehicle.

You asked for help and I tried to offer some. I am sorry you did not care for the manner in which I provided said help.

ECT most DEFINITELY does matter as others have also pointed out. It changed the shift points in the 1st gen, 2nd gen and not surprisingly the 3rd gen too.

If your truck is only getting a life time average of 16mpg and you are bone stock.... there is something wrong. Take it in for warranty repair. I have a heavy foot and I average 20+ Life to date MPG. I RARELY us ECT outside of towing because it costs me 1 or 2 MPGS, possibly more depending on conditions. I can EASILY have and have had a tank average 2-7MPG lower due to driving conditions (conditions that were mentioned in my previous post like towing, load, headwinds and such)

You are not wrong. A little over simplified, but not wrong.

YUP, most likely. Also his dash shows a freeze/ice warning so he may be running winter gas which, as I understand it, provides less power and MPGs. Though I do not think it should not be a cost of 3-4 MPGs.

OP, Most everyone responding to this thread has tried to offer you help. I was not, nor am I now, attacking you. I genuinely was trying to help you diagnose the issue. It seems clear you are not receptive to the help offered by me as well as several other members here. I will back away and let you find your help and/or answers elsewhere.

Good luck solving your issue!! I hope you can find a way past your troubles and can enjoy your Tacoma.

He's in Colorado, different elevation, more hills probably, less oxygen than in Florida. I've been riding this guy's thread all day but even I know that location changes everything.

For example, if he was sitting in a 2nd Gen this wouldn't be a problem.

I concur. Elevation has a lot to do with the work required and mileage as well as shift points will change. It would easily be improved by a 2nd Gen.
