People drinking and driving is going to happen no matter what and alcohol is ready available.

Now if pot was legal and more ready available who's to say people to never drive around high? Looky there...we created another problem!

Not really. They know if they are caught driving high, then their vehicle will be searched, and if they are carrying any weed, they go to the pokey, and loose their ride. So most dont get high and drive.....none that I know anyway...

I know serveral people that are high every minute of the day and its fucking stupid. The fact that it is illegal puts a little bit of restriction on how much people do it.

If it were 100% legal it would be a lot more wide spread

    It's already readily available.

The conclusion of this study that has been posted already by the OP puts it into perspective. Pot at high level with a experienced user doesn't impare to the level you can legally drive with alcohol.

    http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabi...driving4.shtml

"Marijuana's effects on driving performance were compared to those of many other drugs. It was concluded that THC's effects after doses up to 300 mcg / kg never exceed alcohol's at BAC's of 0.08 g %; and were in no way unusual compared to many medicinal drugs'. Yet THC's effects differ qualitatively from many other drugs, especially alcohol. Evidence from the present and previous studies stronly suggests that alcohol encourages risky driving whereas THC encourages greater caution, at least in experiments. Another way THC seems to differ qualitatively from many other drugs is that the former's users seem better able to compensate for its adverse effects while driving under the influence. Still one can easily imagine situations where the influence of marijuana smoking might have an exceedingly dangerous effect; i.e., emergency situations which put high demands on the driver's information processing capacity, prolonged monotonous driving, and after THC has been taken with other drugs, especially alcohol."

Note the study was done in Holland since our laws are so fucked up you couldn't do the study here.

Funny how all the pretend states-rights rightwing only find states-right applicable at their convenience of conviction.

Tenth Amendment - The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

I don't see anywhere in the constitution that delegates power to the federal government to ban marijuana, and it couldn't be done with alcohol as was well understood in in 1933 when it took an amendment to cancel the previous amendment criminalizing alcohol.

Since then the courts have decided just about anything else besides alcohol, tobacco and caffeine can be classified as illegal at the federal level without amending the constitution.

HR 2306 looks to me as simply returning the laws governing marijuana strictly to the states. There is no need for any federal marijuana laws if your state wants marijuana illegal, and the tenth amendment clearly says that.

Vote for people in your state that want to keep the marijuana drug war going if you want.

    ^

Unbelievable, legal in Tennessee police pirates robbing people of cash and turf wars between police agencies. What a disgrace, I contribute to IJ.org because I like the work they do battling corrupt government.

    Good reason to avoid Tennessee.
