I knew the uneducated would show themselves.

So please explain why you want Marijuana to remain illegal. This should be good for plenty of laughs.

To the person that left the negative rep:

They are uneducated because they have not researched it. All they know is what has been told to them which is mostly lies. Once I hear some good FACTS on why it should remain illegal, I will change the way I think. Until that happens, people against the legalization of Marijuana will remain in my eyes uneducated.

Don't lie- You won't change your opinion for anything. It's clear from your "facts" what you want...It's far easier to cast aspersions at people who think differently than you then to have a civil discussion.

I've seen just as many people drive wasted as I have high...and that's not many cause I do not abide people doing stupid dangerous shit around me and my family. I know there are people who are functioning members of society while high...They are people who do that drunk too. Doesn't mean that it's "safe" or acceptable.

Having seen the drug trade first hand- There is NO way that people are going to go legit just to sell/be taxed/regulated...There will ALWAYS be a black market..Just like the market for scrip pills. So it's not going to solve the economy. And the problem with decriminalizing it a little bit is that people will abuse it (I seem to remember a thread on here about someone who just barely had a drivers license looking for other people who had green cards to compare stories. Will everyone do that...Nope. But right now- The people who believe in it...are getting it...and the people who would do it if it was legal aren't-which is a pretty good discriminator-Keeps some of the stupid people out.

(PS- I'm for punative law...Go ahead..Smoke all day, carry it with you...Whatever. Get caught driving, committing another crime, or infringing/endangering anyone elses rights or lives...Nailed to the wall as an example. Kinda like the hate crime modifiers. Same goes for drunks and hard drug users.)

the answer to your question is your quote below

it is a gate way drug whether you want to believe it or not. most people wont just start doing meth or coke out of the blue, they will have a back ground of low risk drugs like alcohol or pot. and to clear things up before someone asks, yes alcohol is a drug

but another reasons why it probably wont get legalized is the same reason that the drinking age will never be put down to 18 because America is not ready for it.

Im 20 years old, and my generation would not know a place for it. ultimately, it would cause more problems first off then it would fix, which would take about 15-20 years or so

why do i say that? look at the countries with the drinking age at 9-14. those kids grow up with alcohol and know a place for it, know when to use it and when not to. Im not saying put the smoking age at 9-14, but you know what i mean

    neglect, mostly.
in a non kiss ass way, i don't think ive ever seen a brunes post i disagreed with. . . . so yeah i totally agree. personally i could give two shits if you smoke or whatever. it's illegal so i don't do it, cut and dry. though OP, you know legalizing pot is not going to spin our economy into an upward climb and candy canes are gonna start falling from the sky.

and something else OP, do you think your stat on deaths related to marijuana really holds that much weight? think about it. smoking the grass is illegal. that being said, less people partake in it compared to things that are legal (like hmmm alcohol?). there's no arguing that. so comparing statistics to other things that are legal, that are more widely used is stupid. Right now i can think of 3 people that have died from a "marijuana related death". 2 of them were guys i went to high school with. they were high, they drove, they wrecked, they died. sad, but true. another one was on a fire call i responded to where they wrecked high.

SO, my 20 year old self, living in a little county in NC knows of 3 "marijuana related deaths". there are like 60 something counties per state on average (i think), weed's been in the US for some 100+ years, you do the math, your facts are crap. AND if it does become legal, more people will do it and more deaths will inevitably occur.

And finally, just note that i really don't care. Im not against anything a person has their own right to do. I am all for as little government regulation in my life as possible. Just don't come in here calling people stupid, throwing out bullshit facts and thinking it's gonna help whatever petition you want me to sign, cause junior it aint.

One of the disadvantages of smoking marijuana is that you can't control where the smoke goes. With alcohol, if I drink it, only I am affected. Marijuana affects everyone around you. So you're passing a drug on to someone who may not want it. It infringes on the rights of an individual who may want to be at a particular place but can't because they don't want to be exposed (e.g. concerts, parks, etc).

It's a small village outside of Maricon in Mexico. It's a small population of citizens who have blazing red eyes, and just hang out all day eating funions and playing Call of Duty. It is a fun place to visit, but I would not want to live there all the time.

I don't believe legalizing marijuana would create a substantial increase in use, only difference is people wouldn't have to be as secretive about it. Use is widespread, it's readily available and people already make a choice on whether they smoke it or not. If it were legalized there would be restrictions similar to alcohol, ie: minimum age to purchase, can't smoke in public places, can't drive under the influence etc.
