Was doing a valve cover gasket replacement on the 5VZFE yesterday, figured I might as well swap out upper and lower plenum gaskets as well so bought a set. Upon removal, it almost looked like there are 2 metal gaskets stacked on top of each other in both the upper and lower plenum. My questions are,

    1. The set that I bought came with 2 gaskets, am I supposed to install them both on the upper plenum and another 2 on the lower?
    2. Are the plenum gaskets for both upper and lower the same part number?

    Any help would be great!

That’s normal, they’re multi layered. When I did my VC gasket job I also changed out the upper and lower plenum gaskets. Each one had two layers, seemingly riveted together in areas. And yep, same part number as they’re the same exact gasket.

Thanks! So install both gaskets from the new set onto each plenum or separate the 2 and install one into each? Thickness wise, it almost feels like a single of the new gasket is about the same as the multilayered one already installed. So not sure if I install both in one plenum or separate to install in different plenums.

Use one double layered gasket per plenum. Do not take any gaskets apart, leave them as you bought them, and install one set/pair in each location.
