I've used the bed plug for Christmas lights and my Dremel. I tapped into it and have a plug in cab which I use to charge my phone/sons DS etc... and a projector night light for the kids. :)

I plug my Edgestar into it; do the 400w anytime mod. I also added outlets in the cab and use them for charging camera batteries and powering/recharging a netbook.

Used within it's limits the plug is awesome!! I've done a few things with it... Ran a box fan to get a blazing fire in the backcountry when it was torrential rain. And as said above, a trouble light! I run the trouble light into my snowmobile trailer in the winter and work on my sleds. Works awesome. I have also charged a portable vaporizer (for tobacco use only- horseshit) while I was camping. If you don't expect too much from it the outlet is awesome.

It's fun when you have to move a 72'' projector TV at night to plug it in and keep the white noise going as you drive down the freeway

    Not enough...
^ both replies above are hilarious.

Just get an additional inverter. I picked up a 1500w Cobra inverter at a Pilot truck stop years ago for $60. That thing went to Burning Man 3 years in a row and still works.

I bought a 4 cup coffee maker at WalMart for like $15 that worked great while camping using the bed plug.....

I have done the 400W anytime mod and I just recently used my plug to run a mini-fridge to keep my food cold while driving almost 5 hours to the camp site. Once there I just swapped it over to the camp site power and it worked like a charm.

Guys be careful running any power tools. Yeah it will run em but it will also burn em up. Anything over 3 amps is to big for it which is pretty much every power tool

I don't think it will run anything over what it will actually put out. I've always heard that if it tries to pull more than what it can handle, it just trips.

The inverter shuts off when the amp draw is too much.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.

I used mine at the NW Overland Rally to inflate our aero bed. ~200 watts.
