Now I need to do some testing...saw is 15amp and other than just plugging it in and giving it a very quick test I haven't put it through its paces. Haven't run it for long or under load.

that's nice! I have the route imported on my GPS but when all else fails you need a real map right.

Ordered the map as well, also run CB/baofeng and have a axe/chainsaw if needed. This should be a solid trip if im not out of country on deployment.

I have been wanting a Milwaukee battery saw for a long while. Maybe Summer Claus will bring one before the snow leaves.

Have run 4/5 of the Oregon BDRs a few times and Washington a couple times up to Chelan. I have been wanting to finish the stretch from Chelan north (and then move onto Colorado, Utah and the rest lol). There are some good stretches of track once you get on the ridges above Packwood going north, and then some more .. maybe a ways north of Ellensburg? There are also some great caves in a general lava flow area south of Adams and north of Trout Lake near the Columbia, some are not fully mapped and require gear and some bravery. I think I would want to take 10 days to do a comfortable border to border run in WA, and maybe 5 days bombing without having to stop much for trees and rerouting around gates, slides, etc. Routes can change a bit in the forest and mountains.

If you get a radio, please make an attempt to get a license. There are sometimes pissed off and entitled crazies on the airwaves. I'd also recommend a mobile radio install over a handheld because 50W >> 5W and they let you hit repeaters to talk to civilization quickly if shit hits the fan. Mostly 50 watts makes it easy mode for clear talking between trucks anywhere in the line.

Have been planning on doing section 2 up to Highway 20 sometime this summer with my daughter. I got the map the other day and now my GF wants to go with her son in her 4runner which is probably smarter with 2 vehicles.

Question for those that have done it...Would there be any issues in a stock 4runner? There's more difficult routes on the map I'd prefer to do but I'm mainly concerned with clearance.

Also, likely hood of running into gates?

This should be very doable in a stock 4runner, it has better angles than a taco so if your taco can do it her 4runner can. My only concern would be tires on the 4runner.

Edit - I haven't done any of the WABDR but have talked in great length with those who have.

Yeah, we need to start lining up the logistics:

North to south: head east on 90 or 2, then north on 97 up to the Twisp area? Head back south on the trail.

Middle / south to north: take 410 to 12 East. Hop on the trail near Rimrock, head North?

Let me know what y’all think.

Overall, I’m open to to anything. I’m more looking forward to an adventure and sights than a set length / destination.

I can't commit to the whole thing but I will definitely do as much as i can. Realistically it will probably be 3 days/2 nights for me. Are you thinking 5 sections/10 days so 2 days per section?

Right. I think that’s the plan for most folks. Join in when they can.

To be honest, I just took a big chunk of time off, and didn’t give it a second thought :bananadead:. Two days per section works out perfectly per the OP game plan.

Ps: Butler map arrived. Great suggestion.

I did too, I have off from 7/3-12 but not sure that my fiancee wants to care for our toddler alone for 10 days while I play in the woods. At some point there will have to be an approximate time/location breakdown for those joining midway through. If someone doing the whole thing has an inreach they can correspond with someone back home who can update the thread.

I do have an InReach mini. Would that work? I haven’t used it yet.

I think you can set that up for basic messages and also some premade ones.
