I drop at least $200 on tags every year and like clockwork, life happens and I get to hunt about half a dozen days on a good year. Oh well, if I didn’t buy the tags ahead of time I probably wouldn’t even make it out that much.

Yep. I was planning a few late season days but by the time the season opens I don’t know if I’ll even be able to get where I want to go. Hunting might just turn into a snow wheeling trip.

Come on. It’s not so bad. Late archery doesn’t start for another month. That’s cold!

Yeah I know, I have 2 archery deer tags and archery elk to fill. It was 25 at my house this morning though. Not used to it yet this year

Life/work was too busy to make it out for elk season this year, but I did decide to take the day off work to make a day trip to visit my dad and his friends at their camp (we usually hunt near the Naches area, up behind Whistlin' Jacks off 410). Super quiet up there this year, no shots being fired, they didn't see a single animal all week, and no one else around them had either.

Anywho, on the way home, a few miles east of Greenwater a car up ahead of me nailed a young bull and killed it. Since I didn't get an animal this year, I figured "fuck it, meat is meat" and loaded it up and took it home. Turned out the car hit it "just right" because all four quarters were in great condition and the only unsalvageable meat was one side of ribs and about half of one of the backstraps. Since it was young it wasn't super large, but I netted about 100 pounds of meat.

Anyone sell their elk? I have a friend who is going to buy some elk and it sounds like it'll cost 6-8/per pound and that sounds pretty pricey. Average price for those of you who sell?

    Well then.

Hypothetically if someone gifted you say like 20 pounds of ground, how many cases of beer should you give?

Well if beers were $1 each. I would say 6-8 beers per pound depending on the cut of meat is a great deal. Think about the cost of grass fed beef. And wild elk is a premium meat above farm raised grass fed beef.

Just found this thread. That’s a nice bear! I got mine last weekend. Always wanted to get one with a bow but I don’t think I’m sneaky enough.
