Hey all! Just picked up my ‘13 Taco and wanted to take the kids for a weekend adventure on some forestry/trails.

I’m located in Portland but willing to drive up to WA or to the coast for the right adventure.

Ideally a place where we could go explore that is more overland(y) opposed to rock crawling. Camp for the weekend by a beautiful mountain top or river (dibs on air bed in the truck bed).

    Thanks for the tips!!!

Welcome to TW! Most National Forest alow dispersed camping. You should be able to go up and find a nice spot. Same for exploring. A stock Tacoma can handle most forest service roads. Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon and Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington are close to Portland and have some great areas to go explore.

    Hi Paul,

    I’m Paul too from Portland!

No need to go very far. We have lots of places to explore and camp. I suggest Browns camp for some off-roading with camping. My Hood also has many roads up there too. Bend, Central Oregon, Southern Oregon is at your disposal too. Don’t forget the coast. While you cannot camp on the beach, you can drive on it and camp nearby. Checkout Gearhart and the shipwreck of Peter Iredale.

Feel free to reach out with questions.

Oh man! So many places to get started. I’ve been stalking the NW locals thread to get some ideas but definitely haven’t heard of most of this. Thanks all! I feel so welcome LOL. Tacos for life!
