Here is my EDC and what I have on the full load out.
I generally stick to MicroTech, CRKT, SOG, and benchmade. Just what I'm used to. I will also say, when it comes to lighting, the brightest is not always the best. It does depend on the situation. 2 on the left rotate between what I'm wearing, 2 on the right and the light stay on the rig.

I just got these to keep close by in the taco. I always have my Olight mr2 warrior on me for the flashlight. I totally get it’s not a knife. I also carry my HK

I have been in love with Fenix flashlights for about 5 years now. I keep this one in the truck.

1600 lumens, rechargeable, and small. I have a similar model I bought about 5 years ago, and it's been perfect.

I carry cheap knives that I get from Walmart. I have a tendency to dull them out cutting up bait for fishing, so I periodically buy a few of them to keep stocked up.

Maglite is garbage. Theyre so far behind the technology and their quality has dropped off significantly since the 90's. Absolute garbage. Furthermore using alkaline batteries for something thats going to sit in your glovebox is a recipe for a ruined flashlight when the battery leaks acid and corrodes all the internals of the torch.

Streamlight & Kershaw fan. I own 5 streamlights, 1 protac hl headlamp, 3 strions, 2 are led, 1 is the led hp and a double clutch headlamp. The protac hl headlamp has a pretty tight spot but works for my use. 2 led strions I use at work, 1 is a spare in case I lose the other. The strion led hp is more suited for searching for enemy aircraft in pitch darkness. The double clutch is the lemon of the bunch. I also got the piggy back strion charger with a spare battery, it uses the same battery as the protac. Streamlight makes good stuff that isn't cheap. If you break it, they fix it.

To each his own but, I think a pocket knife should be on you instead of in the car. That is unless we're talking about a machete or something big like that. I carry a Kershaw cryo to work. They're cheap, durable, hold an edge, and not that big a deal if you destroy or lose it. After work I have a few I'll rotate through depending on what I feel like carrying. Right now I'm carrying a crkt large g10 pilar with a custom deep carry pocket clip. On stand by is another crkt large satin pilar. My favorite Kershaw leek composite with a custom deep carry pocket clip. They on my night stand is a crkt pilar, the smaller one, and a victorinox swiss army rally pocket knife.

If forced to chose something to keep in the tacoma, it would be a streamlight strion with a hardwired charger. Hate the cigarette lighter adapters. Kershaw cryo for the knife.

The reason I always carry a knife now is 1, I feel naked without it since there's always one there when at work. Also, once I was at a restaurant in a neighborhood of a race other than my own. I stepped out for a cig. Someone from across the street stopped, looked at me, crossed the street and stood 2' away from me looking around. I switched hands, put my cig in my left, put my right on my blade. All in less than a second, he made a sudden move towards me, my right hand pulled up on my leek, he stopped, I stopped. I know his intent was to sucker punch me. I really didn't want to have to cut him but, my intent was to defend myself.

In addition to the previously mentioned knife I carry in my truck I always carry a pocket knife. Been doing so since age 9 when my dad gave me my first pocket knife. Never leave home without it. Don’t feel right without my pocket knife.
Each to their own but I personally do not really like rechargeable flashlights. I use flashlights a lot on my back country hunting, fishing and camping adventures. When they grow dim I can’t be waiting for them to recharge. I just slip a new set of batteries into them and I’m ready to keep going. I buy batteries at Costco where they are cheap. A pack of 48 alkaline batteries is $15. I always keep extra batteries in the truck.

Modern led rechargeable flashlights use very little power and most last far longer than what's needed. They also have piggyback chargers that keep a spare battery charged. Streamlight stuff isn't cheap but they're definitely high quality. I've had this strion for a really long time. The only time I run out of battery is if I don't charge it for 2-3 weeks of daily hesvy use. Most guys get the stinger instead of the strion. Their warranty is outstanding. You break it, send it in, they send a new one. To each their own but I think if you tried it you'll like it.

Just a bunch of old crap
    • Leatherman Wave covers most needs that a multitool in a truck can deliver
    • Box cutter clipped on the outside of my bleed kit that is attached to the molle on my seat back. This is the workhorse since most I need a blade for thus far is opening Amazon packages
    • Ka-Bar BK2 in the door pocket, for apocalypse reasons
    • A couple of these cheap Amazon lighter socket rechargeable flashlights are really convenient. Plenty of light and battery life. At least one always charged on the center console, and I swap it out every few days with one in the armrest. I wired up this double socket to the ignition and it's great for guest USB charging, voltage watch, and charging a flashlight always within reach
