Kershaw calls theirs speedsafe. It’s technically not considered an auto because you don’t push a button to deploy. Some places, like California, don’t allow automatic open or switchblade knives. It’s great for one hand operation but the snap noise makes the queasy brains scream switchblade. So I’ll either carry a flipper which also opens quickly but not lightening fast and it doesn’t have the snap noise. Or if I have a spring assist, I’ll put my finger in front of it so it doesn’t snap.

Right now my favorite edc is the crkt Pilar, I own 3. It’s a flipper. Small satin, large satin, large g10 black. The g10 is much lighter, much better steel, and way more expensive. The small one sits on my end table for things like picking at a hang nail or opening a stubborn pistachio.

In the photo, the black one has a custom deep pocket clip, so does the composite blade Kerahaw leek up top.

If you decide to shell out what the composite leek costs there’s a trick to use vinegar to further discolor the edge steel to provide more contrast between the two steels. I did mine about 4 years ago, it’s faded some since.

I lost my old streamlight strion led. I’d say I got my money’s worth outta it. It’s been run over, dropped multiple times yet still functioned.

It’s replacement arrived today, paid the extra for the green anodized version so hopefully I don’t lose it.

In the strion family, I also have the hpl and hp. The hpl with the bigger head is brighter then the led. The hp is the brightest of the bunch.

Zero tolerance makes some great blades. Streamlight or surefire for lights

The Fenix PD36R is a good torch. The USB-C charging port is super convenient.

I think this one is replacing the old version where you had to take out the battery and plug the usb direct to battery. Here the sun port is on neck so you November have to take apart. I’m between the one you mentioned and this one any thoughts after you check it out ?

*off subject note* You may need to check on your auto-correct or predictive spelling app....haha.

That TK20R v.2 seems to look good on paper. I don't know what your preferences are with torch features like body style and size or light settings/options, so my opinion may not match yours...but, I consider how well it fit in my pocket with the least amount of protrusions or printing, and the PD36R fit nicely, smaller head diameter and deep pocket clip.

Don’t like bulky flashlights in my cab. I use this all aluminum waterproof mini led keychain light a LOT. It sits within easy reach in my stick shift caddy area. Super bright, small and inexpensive. I removed the clip, of course. Luv it! In stock at Lowes at the keys area.

Schrade Old Timer pocket knife. Inexpensive but a quality knife. Under $20. I’ve had this one for 10+ years. Holds an edge and just keeps on cutting. I’ve used it thousands of times. I have another Old Timer my dad gave me 50 years ago but I just keep it on my work bench now, don’t want to chance losing it.
The flashlight is from the NRA. Rugged, rechargeable, dependable and 4 super bright modes. I generally don’t like rechargeables because when you’re out in the boonies and the battery fades you are screwed. But I found extra rechargeable batteries for it and when they fade I just replace the battery. Charge them all when i get home.

I will play along. I can't say enough good things about the Nitecore HC35. I originally bought it after getting caught on a trail after dark and had to hike out for 1.5 hours in the pouring rain holding my iphone. It is a head lamp but the flash light easily comes off so it can be used as a regular handheld but still allowing for use as a headlamp when hands free is needed. This light is seriously bright as the top lumens output is rated at 2700. It will not stay at that brightness for a very long time before the heat safety feature kicks in but when I take my dog out at night in a wooded area and it allows me to quickly survey a very large area(400 feet) for any animals before I dim it to conserve battery life. It will last an insanely long time on one of the lower light output levels (270 lumens for over 8 hours). And if you were ever in a situation where you were stranded for a LONG period of time you can get 40 lumens for 52 hours. Amazon has it for $100 but well worth it IMHO.

Zero tolerance has a great warranty on all their stuff too. Bought a used knife off of blade forums where the guy absolutely destroyed the blade trying to sharpen it. They sent me a new blade, no questions asked.
