My Gen 2 wheels are starting to blister under the paint. Has anyone Stripped and polished their wheels? I'd like to see some pics.

Having blasted and painted several sets of OEM alloys, I don't think they would be too hard.to put a decent polish on but it would be tedious and I don't think they would hold up extremely well - the alloy Toyota specs does pick up scuffs fairly easily.

Thanks Dean! I'm going to give it a shot this winter when my ADHD has me bouncing off the walls, LOL!

Yeah, I'd be interested to see how they turn out and hold up.

Raw polished wheels are a lifelong commitment.

If you are looking for a project, you can strip them and polish them, and then get some 2K clear and coat them so they become maintenance free. Or once they are stripped, find a local place that does powder coating and pick your color. It's actually quite cheap to do when you factor in how durable they'll be afterwards.

Powder for my winters was a price I'm glad I finally paid for. I don't wheel them and they have been a huge maintenance saver here in Salt Hell - the CaCl they supplement with on the roads eats aluminum alive.

I'm going to look into powder coating. If the Wife would let me, I would Cerakote them and cook em in the kitchen. If you have not Cerakoted, it smells like a toxic waste dump when cooking.
