I feel like an old fuck in here after seeing the preponderance of 1st-genners are kids. But anyways, I hope you keep this one like I intend to keep mine-pretty much forever. To be passed down in the family. "Sold" has never been a thought here.
My gal bought a Celica GTS in '87. She still has it and it looks almost new. Only 78,000 miles on it. 32 years old that GTS! I do all the driving with my two vehicles for years now so she really doesn't need her own car, but she'll keep that one forever too-that's her baby. I am the one who keeps it in tune and detailed to the max like it was my own.

26-30 a bit of a surge! 31-35 clinging to a 1 vote lead. Don't worry 26-30s, they're not better than you. It's just because they've been working a bit longer and have more money for replacement parts like frames, LT susps, ...

Judging by how it appears most folks are going to cling to their trucks with a death grip, the scale is probably gonna keep sliding to the right. EDIT: Over time, that is.

I should know. I've had mine since I was 19 and have zero intention of letting it go.

    Second.

Three years and 43k on it when I picked it up. Reasonably well maintained. It was bought new from one dealer in my area before being traded at the Toyota dealer I found it at.

Compared it against a white DC with Gray interior with 50k on the clock. That truck just didn't feel as good as mine, and it had been a smoker's truck. Big deal breaker for me, that.

Completely Stock except for Ranch 5000 Shocks and Struts.
Wow, I am now 51, and I am an old and a stupid son of a bitch by Tacoma World standards. I am now married and have a fixer upper house, and I have all of the baggage that goes with those two items I just mentioned. Unfortunately, I am also now carrying around a 35 pound over 10 year old fetus so I am also very pregnant.

Here is the problems with the first generation Tacomas as you get older. These are same problems with them for the youth as well, but when you are young, you don't really give a shit about these items that much. The stock seats are as uncomfortable as hell. In fact, I almost would rather ride on a raspy piece of plywood. The suspension found in these old Tacomas is very lively almost to the point to where you can feel your tires run over insects.

These first generation Tacomas are not the most comfortable trucks for the old son of Bitches on Tacoma World. I have had mine almost 15 years. Luckily, for my family and my ass, it is now the family house and Whaler project fix it truck so it doesn't get driven except on project weekends.

I will say this on a good note about it. It is reliable as the sun coming out each morning. The little truck has never missed a beat. Not that this is saying a whole lot, but the thing is going to out live me. I really would love to change the color of our Tacoma to the Imperial Jade Mica, but it is not a practical thing to do by any stretch of the imagination.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

I just wanna know what those in my age range saw in the 2nd/3rd gen tacomas (if that's what they chose for replacement) that they felt the need to trade their 1st gen in or sell them and pass them onto the next generation of drivers (besides the aforementioned seats lol)

After 29 years, one either gets used to them or gets used to the pain ;)

This is great, but it’s a little skewed because most forum user’s ages are probably directly related to these results.

These were the results I would have expected. Still very cool tho

Another interesting poll would be, what are the ages of users on Tacoma World?
Using this data to cross reference with this current poll would be more significant

example: lets say 80% of users on tacomaword are ages 26-30, but only 17% drive 1st gens.

On the other hand, let's say 10% of users on tacomaworld are 40-44, and all 10% drive 1st gens. This is a much more significant statistic
