Poll: 3rd Gen wheels on 1st Gen Tacoma?

Discussion in '1st Gen. Tacomas (1995-2004)' started by nchiker1, Feb 21, 2021.

?

Should you slap 3rd gen wheels on a 1st gen given the chance?

  1. Absolutely. It's a great update that just makes for a sharp looking 1st gen.

  2. Nah. Don't overdo it, keep it classic with the originals.

Would think newer verses a more worn suspension primarily, or not running spacers at all. Rubbed up front before adding spacers on frame just slightly at full crank.

Have the 2020 Tacoma 17" sport wheels with 265/70/17 wildpeaks. About a 32" tire profile. I love the tires, the wheels are okay.. However price was too good to pass up for both NEW rubber and metal so went with it. Puts me about same height as a stock PRO.

So I’ve been running 3rd gen wheels on my 2001 for a while. Just put on some spydertrax spacers due to rubbing. I swapped the OEM lug nuts for the mag style but have noticed that the wheel shifts on the lugs. Do I need to go back to the 2001 OEM lug nuts? Or get some third gen lug nuts?

I personally think the 3rd gen wheel options look too modern for first gens

I recently bought the same wheels for my 03 double cab 4x4. they fit great in the rear, but the front wheel studs were too short even though everything appears to be OEM and was properly seated against the rotor. fingertight i could turn the lugs 9 times in the rear, but the front only 3.5. do you have any possibly guesses what might be the issue, or did you have this problem?

Exactly, I had to add spacers because it looked so silly...

Or these.....31x10.5 15" . More tire less wheel looks better on the smaller trucks, plus I like seeing the header and suspension through the wheel well
