Having lived in the area for the last 5 years I'll tell everyone here.

King County is a fucked up, politically mucked, screw the next person, liberal free for all, the law is the law and there is nothing you can do about it county.

This is the state that had 3 recounts for a governor...

I've been on the receiving end of about 4 parking tickets in Seattle and each time I've been parked legally. Tried to fight the first one and my court appearance was well after the fine was due. I called and tried to get an extension and the comment was "well, we can not accommodate you. Either pay the fine or the cost will go up to the past due fee because you have missed the payment date" Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Seattle! The City where the Mayor wants to create no driving days. Basically, there will be no legal parking within downtown on weekends. If you are parked your car will be ticketed or towed.

Also, enjoy the fucked up parking rules and regulations of "Diamond" parking... Wait till you get fooked by those guys!

I figure the signs are like a parking meter and the spot directly before each sign is marked for loading. If it were between the signs the signs would have arrows pointing to eachother. JMHO - either way I would just pay the $42 and be done, if your town is like mine they will charge you $5 to clear the ticket even if you are right.

The first step is to look up the statute you were cited for--in the city you were cited. Usually, this says something like the "no parking between the signs". It may give more clues to number of feet in front of the sign, etc.

Once you feel that you were not parked illegally, document your case. Pictures are helpful. You will enclose this with your appeal of the ticket.

You'll get a little something in the mail. You check the not guilty part, enclose your fine and letter of appeal and send it back. Within a few weeks, you'll get an answer. Rarely will the answer be "we screwed the pooch and here's your money back". This is because the ticket is usually processed by a third party and they don't give two shits about your appeal but that's OK--you have one last chance to disagree with their decision (the decision will be included in their reply)--either trial by mail or trail in court. If you still believe you are not guilty, then request a trial in court. I suggest court since you get to make an appearance and it's in front of an arbitrator or judge and not some loser that's processing checks.

How do I know about this? I received a parking ticket in San Diego and fought as above--I won. It didn't cost me a dime--ok, two stamps.

    Good luck.

They sign clearly says loading zone from 8 to 5 it looks like. And from the darkness it looks to be after 5. Which would mean you are ok. But if its b4 5 then you are parked illegally...I mean the sign is dead in-front of you not like you couldn't see it or anything!

yea, i think its retarded that the parking garages close at 2am...just so happen to be the same time as the bars..i got stuck in dtown because they closed the gates on me and i couldnt get my truck out...luckily i had some buddies that were staying in a hotel in downtown, hence the reason i was there..so i was able to crash in their room till the next morning, only to get charged for 2 parking days...

yea i realize this now, but this would make more sense if there were actually parking meters located on the street, this was just 2 random signs

King county is fucked up? Try the whole state of Washington is fucked up.

It's all political bullshit IMO...considering every state being in a "budget crises" they are going to give people tickets for stupid little things because they need the money

if it is a loading area that means you cannot park there. you can only stop to load. its not just in between you and the car, the loading vehicle has to be able to be out of the roadway and out of traffic. just pay the fine and dont park there anymore :)

Okay, sign says "3 minute PASSANGER LOAD ONLY 5PM-2AM"
Then under that it says "PAY TO PARK 3AM-5PM"
I believe you were parked legally and to park beyond those signs would be illegal. I would look up the statues that you were sighted for. Just look on your ticket, it should say what stautes you violated. Then go by what they say. Here in the City of Johnstown a parking ticket is $5.00. Guess all the big cities put the screws to you. Now if your ticket is for parking in a fire hydrant zone, I think you would lose. NOTE THE HYDRANT behind your truck!

can't tell from those pictures. What was the sign before you parked? Were you over a time limit? In a No parking zone (don't always need to be red)? Hydrant within 25 feet.... it looks like it might be, in your second pic. Take those pics, fight it and have them prove why you're illegal. Fact is though, it'll be hard to prove that you didn't move the care before hand. But... supposedly you're innocent until proven guilty. See how long that lasts.
