I'm just about a week in to owning my first truck, a Tacoma Pre-Runner 4x2 Limited in Pyrite Mica.

My first thoughts are I sometimes have small regrets about not ordering and waiting patiently for a mag grey one.

Second thoughts are it seems like a good truck all around, only after reading some of the other new owners posts did I become aware of some minor annoyances. Things like no illuminated door locks/window up/down buttons and in the various cup holder area.

The thing is I came from a 93 Honda so a lot of these things weren't available on that car either but at the same time my wife has a 09 Infiniti G37 and it pretty much game with all the bells and whistles.

Some of the things I miss the most are the auto lock of doors after 10mph. I ended up getting a Corolla loaner while they did my tint and installed the reverse sensors and found out that the Corolla actually will auto lock when you put it into drive and auto unlock when you put it into park. I wish my Tacoma did this but it's not that big of a deal.

The only other thing I can think of is I kinda wish my reverse camera showed up on the nav screen like my G37 does instead of the mirror. That's about it.

After a week I have heard the minor wind noise and have to say its a freaking good truck. The JBL is awesome the bass is good for a higher end factory unit and my favorite part about is the fact it actually has good quality my dad owns a chevy so When I got my truck he said if he ever got another truck the Taco would be his first choice

I don't blame you, if it wasn't a matter of size I would be on a F-150, Raptor if possible, but in the mid-size category the Taco is despite the platform showing its age still, best in class and despite not adding all the comfort creatures almost any car carries as standard nowdays and that the Taco is still missing.

Full of Crap.....and any truck with as light a rear end as the tacoma could roast 33" tires while powerbreaking

Other than the stupid whistle, non illuminated door switches, and adjustment from always owing V8's, it does really well towing, and 16.5 around town, with about 19 on the highway (70 mph), not bad for a 4x4 fairly heavy truck. I am missing a full size but no need for it.

I posted this on another thread but what the hell ...

I have read through this thread ... I posted earlier myself.

Some of the dislikes I can understand, the things that come up as time and miles are added on.

Others I have to scratch my head on... [IMG] ... those physical items on the "punch list" wanted on the truck we are purchasing.

Your Tacoma is most likely your 2nd or 3rd biggest investment ... after a home and education.

To me, a lot of the "dislikes" were there when we researched and before we purchased the truck. Having weighed all out options, we still went ahead with the purchase.

So, to be disappointed or surprised that "this is missing" or "my Hyundai was equipped with that" somewhat stikes me odd.

    That's it ... [IMG]

People always ask, "how do I like my Tacoma?"
My response is always, "if I was a billionaire, this is what I would drive.

I have wanted a Toy 4x4 my whole life, and now I have it.
Wouldn't change it for anything but the latest version.

Very happy with my new MGM access cab. It's the perfect truck for me. The wind noise is a minor annoyance but no vehicle is perfect.

The 1 thing that really pisses me off is not having 48 inches between the wheelwells in the bed of the truck. There is absolutely no reason the box couldnt be adjusted to achieve 48 1\2" . It boggles my mind that toyota doesn't understand it is an important dimension seeing as alot of truck owners haul building supplies.

^^^I agree!there are a few things, that,if they fixed, like auto headlights/doorlocks,locking tailgate, heated sideview mirrors on the "limited" at least!Would make this truck unquestionably #1!But,as much as I love it!I feel like they cut some corners.I still love it,and plan on driving it until the wheels fall off, but,it could be so much better with a few minor tweaks!let the onslaught begin!just being honest!

After owning it for a month or so I have to say it's the greatest thing ever. I hate the gas mileage but that's the price you pay for owning a truck hahaha. Oh yeah, the low end power could use some boost but at least there is a remedy for that, super charger.

I replaced my F150 4 months ago with a new Tacoma. The only thing I have missed is the cruise control, but a Rostra Kit and a few hours time will fix that next week. I pretty happy with the Taco'

Obviously, you haven't tried to power brake your 2012. There is a throttle override that kills power when the brake pedal is engaged.

I got over that issue by cutting a pair of 2x6's to fit into the recesses provided in the bed side walls. 4x8 sheets go right in and best of all are about waist high.

I also have a piece of plywood cut to fit with the bed closed. Great for storing and hiding tools underneath.

You must be a toyota mechanic, you can hold down the traction control to fully disengage it, not my truck, but it can be done.

And you shouldnt post things like this if you dont know what youre talking about. The gas pedal recall flashed the ecu and makes it impossible to power brake the vehicle. It bogs the motor down if the brake is depressed while the gas is depressed. I have a supercharged xrunner and I still can't do it.

You have to unplug the sensor on the brake in order to do it. Brakes still work but the ecu doesn't know you are pressing the brakes. Also your brake lights will not work when you do this but if you want to have some temporary fun, then all you gotta do is pull the plug on the brake pedal sensor and you're good to go
