This is my second one I really like a lot of things about it but for me its the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever driven. I am really seriously thinking about getting an FJ TT cement grey in June. That this is sweet and the dogs would love to ride with me since I Dont let them ride in the bed.

I love mine so far and its only been 6 days! I owned an 07 Legacy sedan 2.5i Limited and I know what you mean... Thing was very noise and felt like it wasn't going to get me anywhere without falling apart, but the AWD system was absolutely amazing. But I don't think i'll go back to a car unless I need one but can still keep my taco.

Previous owner used to haul heavy loads, so he put an AAL on it and TRD front suspension with a lift and custom rear suspension for added weight capacity. I recently installed a tow package (Curt with lifetime warranty) So i will definitely see what this thing can handle as far as weight goes.
75,000 miles. 4cl prerunner. I voted number 2. The one thing I hate about my truck is the transmission and clutch. The gearbox feels clunky and the clutch grabs with only about 2 inches of travel left. Absolutly hate that sensation. I don't even have to depress the clutch a quarter of the way for it to shift/start out from a stop smoothly. ( I do anyway ) but no other truck or car I've driven has felt that way. Very awkward transmission/clutch.

That's my only real complaint as well. The seat does not fit me well, especially the bottom portion. My seat and legs get uncomfortable pretty quick.

I went from a 2001 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 6.0 to a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 DCSB. Then my situation just changed again and I needed a little more towing capability than the Tacoma could deliver. Traded the Tacoma for a 2012 F-150 4x4 with Ecoboost. I love(d) all three. The Tacoma was a great little truck and held its resale incredibly. Ford dealer where I traded has it listed for $31,999, (it did have a few mods).

    I traded for this.

I do have to say it is nice to have a little more go in the right pedal (the Ecoboost is amazingly strong for a 3.5L V6 if you haven't driven one). And, mpg is basically the same as the Tacoma. I always thought the Tacoma was a little underpowered, but it was still a great little truck. I wouldn't have traded it if it hadn't become a necessity. We still have two Toyotas in the stable. My daughter loves her 2011 Tacoma 4x4 DCSB, and my wife's 2005 4Runner with the 4.6L V8 is probably the best overall vehicle I have ever owned.

My Taco is my first truck and so far it has been awesome. I love the way it drives, the way it looks, and the way people look at her when we drive down the road. I've only had her a month, but so far so good.

Having just downsized from a Tundra double cab TRD offroad 5.7 in to a 4 banger is quite a change. I do miss the power and comfort of the big Tundra but the little Tacoma will grow on me.The Tundra was awsome you could feel it was no light weight.

I still miss the '82 Subaru GL wagon I used to have. It was cheap, it ran forever and it had real 4WD on demand. Whatever happened to those??

Oh, well. My Taco work truck is comparatively cheap and I just met a guy with 255K on his, says it still runs great. I've never had it better in terms of comfort and mileage.

I recently moved to an urban environment, so I spend a lot of time at stoplights now. Constantly having to duck over to see the lights due to the sloping roofline is downright aggravating at times and makes me wish I had gotten something else. The worst part is it's practically the only problem I have with the truck's design. Just a small tweak to the shape of the roof would have made a HUGE improvement for ergonomics and made it more tolerable for drivers of all sizes. Except they didn't and I'm reminded of it every time I step in the vehicle. Not fun.

The Tacoma does a lot of things I need it to do extremely well, but it's hard to fall in love with.

This model isn't the only one they're doing this with now either. It seems to be the new trend to make vehicles as cheap, fat, and driver-unfriendly as possible. I recently checked out a Scion FR-S, which is a car I was really looking forward to from Toyota and it also does the sloping-roof-blocking-stoplights thing. ugh

I bought a 09 access cab right off the showroom floor. I love my taco more than most things in life. The only problem I have faced to date is the fact that I bought the 2.7l instead of the V6. Don't get me wrong, the 2.7l is great on gas, but sucks when your hauling anything. It looses power, thank god, I bought the standard, so I can gear down. I would NEVER get rid of my truck, and if it got wrecked, I'd buy another. You would have to pry the keys from my cold, dead hands before I ever let go of my beloved taco.

I totally dig the 4 cyl in these trucks and the stick gives me complete control. I carry 2 ladders, a fiberglass work topper w/ 2 loaded toolboxes, 20-30 directv receivers, 16 dishes, 3-4 boxes of cable, 9 6-foot poles, 6 50lb bags of concrete among other accessories needed for my job with power to spare while averaging 20 mpg.

I'm 5'9 but maybe the bench seat sits up higher than the ext cabs, which seems to be what most people have. I did notice those models had a more natural seating position and it could also be from the increased ride height (mine is just a base model, sits pretty low). I couldn't imagine being taller while having to duck even more though.
