Over all I am very happy I got the Tacoma. A few small things I'm not 'happy' with like the seat bolsters (Sport) and the door seals (found that out the hard way). The stock radio is crap. It's a great truck all the same.

In my opinion, Toyota totally missed the mark on fuel economy in the 4.0. Frikkin V8's get better mileage than this thirsty beeaach of a truck.

My truck is 4 years old with 54K miles on it. For the most part I love it; except for the weak paint, easily scratched interior and the fact that the OEM blower motor squeks and chirps. 3 fans in 4 years is stupid. First car I've ever had to replace the blower motor. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Tacoma if something were to happen to my truck.

Don't believe what people tell you about any gas mileage claim on any V8 truck!
The Chevy guys claim 21 mpg, the truth is they get 14 mpg
No Ford with the 4.6, or 5.4 V8 gets over 14 mpg
Dodge is the worst with 12 mpg
I have owned Fords forever, the BEST I ever got was 14.3 mpg
I owned an 09 F150 that claimed 19 mpg, even on a 1000 mile cross country trip I never exceeded 14.3 mpg
Now the new F150 has a 3.5 V6 that claims 21 mpg thats BS! It will nevr happen!
My new Tacoma V6 is getiing around 14.3 - 14.6 mpg, but its in the dead of winter, its new with only 400 miles, its short trips thru heavy snow in 4x4, thats better than I expected, and I know once spring arrives and the truck breaks in my gas mileage will improve.

I have an '06 with about 110K miles on it and my only complaint is the lack of cup holders. I mean, there are times when me and my buddies hop in my truck with 14 cans of Red Bull and PBR and we're like, "Dude, what the hell?! Where are we gonna put this extra can of juice?!"

All joking aside, I love my truck and don't regret getting it for a second. However, a few of my buddies have domestic trucks and I think they all have better creature comforts, ergonomics and storage than my Taco. Hey Toyota....13 cup holders and two tiny little general storage compartments?! Seriously?!

I really like my x-runner. My second Toyota - first one was a 1992 xtra cab 4x4, had 176,000. Only dislikes are the weak tailgate and the slight grinding getting into fifth gear, but LOVE the color.

Chevy and Ford pick-ups...cost us money for repairs. Our new Tacoma almost feels luxurious compare to our Chevy. Love our Tacoma...wish we had bought one sooner.

I have to disagree with this statement.
My 2004 regular cab Z71 with a 5.3, 2005 chevy extended cab Z71 with a 5.3, My father-in-laws 2007 Z71 crew with the 5.3 all got 16.5 to 18 MPG on the highway pulling a 6 x 10 trailer with 2 yamaha grizzly 660's back and forth from fl to ga during hunting season. When not pulling the trailer 20 to 21 on the highway and around town 14.5 to 16.5 MPG depending on my mood and what type of song is playing on the radio. Heavy Metal = go fast and slow rock = casual speed limit.

My 2006 chevy 2500 HD crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0 I got rid of 2 weeks ago for the 4 runner got 10.6 around town and 14.5 on the road.

I have owned chevy's, Jeeps, Dodges, Nissans and now Toyotas. I Never plan on buying another Dodge. I dont like the interior of the fords is why I have never bought one (mainly the comfort of the seats). I really liked my Nissans, Chevys, Jeeps. The only 2 vehicles I ever really had any problems out of was the 2000 dodge extended cab 4X4 (new wiring harness & computer system at 500 miles, and transmission at 19,000 miles) and the Jeep Liberty ( 2 sets of upper and lower ball joints, seat belts, air conditioner compressor, water pump, Radiator all before 30,000 miles). Other than that I have never really had any issues with any of the other vehicals I have owned but I dont really keep them very long.

I currently own a 2010 Tacoma DC TRD offroad and a 2011 4 runner. These are the first toyotas I have ever owned. I have owned 16 vehicals over the last 20 yrs plus 5 vehicals for my wife. the tacoma has about 8800 miles on it so far and IMPO it is a good truck.

A few things I like. I like how much easier it is to park than the full size. It pulls my 19 ft Mako bay boat just fine. They look tough with a lift and tires. It has a good power to weight ratio so it can feel a little sporty. Back up camera. There are a ton of mods available to do to them. (one reason I dont keep a vehical long is I get bored with them after I fix them up). I am usually by myself going back and forth to work and running to HD or lowes to pick up something so i dont need a full size all the time.

A few things I dont like. Closest Toyota dealer is 1 hr away. It has a weak a$$ factory radio. Needs to have a darker interior. MPG should be better for a V6. Vibration/shake when you take off with a little agressiveness.

So far overall. I like the tacoma. It is a good looking truck. Easy to maneuver and park. It rides better than my 2500 HD but only by a little bit. tons of upgrades/Mods available. At this point I would buy another one.

Some info on the 4Runner. I LOVE IT!!!!!!! This truck is Quiet. The ride is excellent. Interior is layed out nicely. Plenty of power for its size. So far I like it better than any vehical I have owned. I hope it doesnt change or someone else will own it and I will own something else.

12k miles and my blower gets louder and louder. Front end nose dive when applying the brakes. 4runners have better control with nose dive. Interior could be nicer for a so called top of the line trim. Stock jbl stereo illumination is flickering sometimes. Quality doesn't feel on par with the older models which felt solid. My 2001 4runner is at 200,000 miles and I still drive it to and from Vegas. Nothing has failed yet and if it did. It did it alot later than the 2010 Tacoma. Time will tell how well it holds up.

Last but not least. Toyota dealers need to stop thinking they are a top premier dealers cocky ass fools.

I might get flamed but without owners complaining, what would make Toyota Build better vehicles? Wasn't that how they started out by building better cars than American brand. Now it's just enough. Sigh..

I love most everything about it. This is the first vehicle I have purchased that I like better after buying it than I thought I would. Great aftermarket support, good performance, easy to work on, and yes, a great community like TW for help/suggestions.

My only gripe is the fan resistor. I bought this thing in February of 2010, replaced it in August because the fan would only work on high, and now it is flaky again already. All in all though, that is a very minor gripe compared to the problems I have had on other vehicles in the past.

Although this is the first one I've owned, I've always liked these trucks (1st and 2nd gen). I wish I had bought one sooner. There are little items that bother me, but truthfully, I don't think Toyota has any decent competition in this market when it comes to look/stance. I only wish I would have gotten a TRD-Sport and a different color. If reliability turns out to be what I expect, I'll have to wait many years before I get the color I want...
