My second Tacoma. Why I deviated away from my first one? Beats me, now I am back and I intend to drive this sucker into the ground, love my truck.

Damn...i feel bad for the 48 that had bad experiences!

My 2005 is amazing! The only things that have ever gone wrong with it have been my fault lol...

    Best mid size truck ever!

It's not perfect, but it's damn close, and I love it.

pretty funny.... i traded in my 2011 Tundra CrewMax, Platinum edition...it was a beautiful truck, loaded, 5.7 V8, so much power.... and while I liked it and was 'proud' to own it, I can't honestly say i "loved it".

i now have a 2012 DCLB 4x4, that is nowhere near as nice inside but i swear every time i sit down in the seat and drive, i smile. i don't know why but there is something about the Tacoma that is more appealing to me. my disclaimer is both trucks are really kid taxi's, not work trucks or any 4wd activity. so for what i do and need the tacoma to do, couldn't be happier!

like others have said, not perfect but great vehicle overall. Bought new in 05 and now over 70k miles. Very little problems related to the manufacturer. Had other Toyota trucks in the past and always regretted selling after the fact.

Stonewall is the fattest 5 lug slug ever
YES!!! That's one of the few complaints I have about my truck. And I wish that the wipers could go a little faster than their top speed.
Things that are "unique" about my truck that I don't like are:
    • Loose/slack seatbelts that always get caught in door
    • Fuel gauge doesn't work
    • No driver's seat headrest
    • Corner light is "popped out" becuase the guy that had it before me got it into an accident(s?)
    • Slight bogging occasionally (Bad o2 Sensor) I bought it, have yet to replace it because stuff keeps getting in my way.)

But overall, I love my Taco. Stonewall is my first truck, and is by far the best vehicle to ever have parked in my yard. I regularly haul several hundred pounds of scrap metal (anywhere from 300-900 pounds, usually on the lighter end) with no problem, and without resting on the bump stops. I average anywhere from 22-26 MPG, depending on conditions, consistency/lack of traffic, what I am hauling, etc. (Although my MPG numbers are iffy, since I never truly know when the tank is empty.) I love Stonewall Jackson, even with all of his scratches, dents, and peeling clear coat. I'm gonna keep him until he blows up, and then I'm gonna fix him and drive him some more.

I love my 05, but i would like to see at least the inside of the tailgate be metal. That plastic piece over three or four flimsy metal frame things (i forgot how many there are) isn't very strong. I bought mine used and he had bent it just hauling wood and i can tell when i stand on it, at 220 lbs that its not very strong. The bed can take enough for a midsize truck i guess and im sure it cuts down on mpg's, but the tailgate needs to be stronger. Also maybe the frame could be fully boxed... I haven't read any problems on TW, but i know outside our comunity some people think that the c frame is a weakness. Its not really a complain or a dislike, just something i've thought of.
I would say for the next generation, put some technology into the engine, like cylinder shut off for example. If a dodge ram can get said 25 mpg hwy, then so should a tacoma. maybe a nice ranch trim to go with the new Tundra trim? thats probably way to expensive considering how much they already cost, but hey, they did it for the tundra...

My next truck will be a Ford F150 Ecoboost.

Better gas mileage is the big factor. Plus, if I were to total my truck out for whatever reason, I couldn't replace it for a reasonable amount of money that I paid for the Tacoma.

Mine is a '13 DCSB TRD Sport. I traded my '12 F150 FX4 Supercab for it.

    The things I don't like:
No climate control (can't set a temp)
No rear window / mirror defroster
    No rain sensor
No power rear slider (really miss this)
Only one touch down on drivers door (really?)
No trip computer (besides the milage)
A prop rod for the hood? Really? Come on...
    No honking 5.0 liter V8 noise :)

    The things i dig:
    wicked fun to drive
    solid and solid and solid
    great looking
    auto dimming mirror
    tinted glass
    storage options in the rear
    power outlet
    fun to drive!
    sport sterring wheel is great
    bluetooth syncs in seconds
not a bad stereo for stock
    mica green is awesome
    fit and finish is excellent
    Plenty of options to personalize
    just the right size
    composite bed

This is my second Tacoma and I really like this truck. My first was a plan jane '97 that never had a SINGLE issue. It was a gas-n-go truck! While there are some things that I think Toyota is cheeping out on overall it's a wonderful truck.

I love my truck but currently not happy about my latest failed project of painting the grille 2 tone, but no the less I broke down bought a T-Rex billet grille and waiting for it to get here to find it up. then its saving up for the next mod I have planned, plus trying to get enough together to get my lift and tires all at the same time so I can just so I can have it transform at once right then.

this is my third tacoma. it is a 2011 trd 4wd. is it perfect? no. but it is close. pulls my utility trailer and a load of lumber with ease. gets great mileage. after the fan and spring tsb, has been totally reliable. comfortable on trips with three people and luggage. my hunting lease had some logging this summer. those skidders will really tear up a road but no problem for my taco. to me it is everything i need and nothing i don't. i love my truck.

I love it. But my next vehicle won't be one. But I plan on getting something else when it hits 150,000 but still keep the taco!

Have had my truck (13' DCLB MG) for a month:

    What I like:

    • The ride
    • The bed ( first trip to Home Depot I felt like a king)
    • The height
    • That's it's a truck and looks like a true pickup!
    • Upgraded Stero sounds pretty good ( though I did overpay since I bought the limited)
    • That it's unique around my parts (tons of fullsize Rams all over the place)

What I miss/dislike (mostly nitpicking here):

    • Creature comforts (Real autoup/autodown windows, electronic seats, etc)
    • Seats aren't as comfortable as my 03's accord
    • Steering wheel should adjust further down for my short ass
    • Entune is overated, having to rely on a phone for connection is hoaxy
    • I bought the limited, not a huge fan of the chrome wheels, some days I like them other days I dont, but can always change in the future
    • Engine is loud on startup

Ive owned Toyota trucks for many years, and I can always count on them to be dependable and reliable mechanically.
However, since the second generation, I don't look to them for creature comforts or depth of detail. Especially not looks.
