Every GM and Ford I have driven does the same thing, and I've driven 1000's. Its just slop in the driveline as you come to a stop. 4wd trucks do it worse.

That is where I am at right now.. 260 miles and its there but with music with any midrange playing, its not noticeable. I really hope it doesn't grow into the vibration you are talking about.

One thing to note is its only under load..when coasting downhill if I bring the engine to 2000rpm, its not there.

It's really making me think it's a characteristic of this new cycle engine..hopefully Toyota sees it an issue corporately...even if they just address it with softer engine mounts.. Going in a week or so to get my included window tinting installed. I will bring it up to get it documented, then call for a case number I guess... Disappointing but currently overlookable in mine..

If it's just something you have to accept as normal I'm totally fine with that. I just don't want them to say it's fine, all th while it's causing damage slowly over time, then get out of warranty and have it fail and Toyota tell me 'Oh, well!". I've never owned a 4x4 truck, so it's new to me. All of my previous vehicles were AWD all the time, not 4x4.

2016 TRD sport, 2k mi. I've had the vibe issue since new it took me a few hundred miles to mentally tune it in and observe.
It comes on in the 21-2400 rpm range. I feel it in the pedal especially wearing thin sole shoes as well as the steering wheel. I believe it to be a high frequency intake/exhaust resonance. I find it interesting that no hint of vibration coming thru from the trans to the shifter. I've had three Tundra's, the last being a 2010 and never encountered anything like it. I love the truck otherwise. The Toyota salesmen sold me 'bad', aggressive, 'the look', the bark, which means nothing to me. Before purchase I asked for technical details on the new engine in both the sales and service and just got dumb stares. If the poll numbers's are accurate over 40% indicate they have 'the vibe'.

I guess with such a large number of people having it, the more valuable information for us is:

Of people that noticed it early on, has it progressed to an unbearable vibration? With 1k-3k miles later? Or did it stay the same?

Also. Has anyone put after market exhaust on it or hangers and felt any relief...?

I think with such a large group, we can pinpoint this if Toyota refuses to do anything. I guess to get right down to it we could make a spreadsheet/database listing our models, options, and things we've changed..

Well I took my 2016 TRD OR AC v6 in yesterday for the vibe, which has gotten worse from when I first noticed it at 141 miles, and then it was only felt in the steering wheel from 600 to around 1100 rpms before it went away. One thing I did notice is that when I first got the truck I thought to myself this exhaust is almost too quiet. Now since the vibration has worsened to a point where I and my wife feel it in the seats, gas pedal and steering wheel. The exhaust seems a little louder now. I have tapped the muffler and it seems solid nothing loose inside. I have a little over 800 miles on it, and of course not happy. I also wonder if it will continue to worsen and cause problems down the road. Dealership tech says this is normal and rather than get into a argument with this kid, I bit my tongue. I really wonder if it is some sort of exhaust harmonics reverberating from the muffler back towards the engine? This is my first Toyota and will probably be my last, based upon after sales service that I have experienced which compares to a vast majority of other people have experienced. I act professional towards others and really do not care to talked "at" rather than "to".

Mine has stayed the same. From 200 to 5000 miles. Mine is minor and not nearly as bad as some experience. I can live with mine but it's there.

Yeah, I am really leaning towards the exhaust since my mine is worse when and cold and under load (higher exhaust pressure). Really curious to see if even a cat-back exhaust changes anything but don't want to pay to find out.. And it feels like a higher frequency than the rpm but I only used to dealing with exhaust issues from a turbo Subaru that sounds like its missing since its a flat four boxer.

With those that have vibration at certain rpms, are you still running factory tires? if so, have you looked to see if any of them have a large amount of balancing weights on them? on some of my first oil changes/ tire rotations i noticed that at certain speeds i would get vibration in the truck. i would see the passenger seat shaking ect.. on each rotation it would change, sometimes in location, severity, and/or speed.

i am now at 21k miles and it seems to be almost gone, the tires have also lost a reasonable amount of tread. one of them has what i would consider, quite a bit of lead on it.
i know it has been mentioned before on here but just curious how much of these issues have been caused possibly by stock tire issues.

    Interesting.

In my particular instance (700 mi), the vibration can be lessened if I let off the gas when it seems to be struggling within 1800-2400 rpm. The moment I step back on the gas pedal, the vibration nearly goes away. Like its reset in the correct gear.
I think then the stock tires wouldn't have a part to play in it?

Yes I do not believe tires are the cause mainly because it is not speed dependant, I can be going 10mph or 70mph and the vibration is the same strength and at the same rpm range.. If it did woraem with speed, then I would consider tires/driveshaft/rear diff/etc.

I have a sport w/ tow package, but I have no vibration issues nor the low tranny fluid (had mine checked at Toyota...it took 1.5 hours to go through that procedure). Did you have the head service man ride with you around town and point out the vibrations? Any chance of the vibrations coming from bad tires/balance job?

I test drove the truck alone. I believe it had somewhere in the neighborhood of 55-60 miles on the clock at the time. I've driven 2nd gens, and FJs lifts and 33 MTs before, neither of which had anywhere near the buzzing vibration the 16 OR 4x4 had on the test drive. Before I pulled the trigger, I wanted to check to the forums to see if that is how they are supposed to be, and found owners complaining about the vibration so I haven't ordered one for myself yet. The other thing I noticed on the drive was the noise. I've owned an STi, currently a Forester XT, and couldn't believe the noise coming from the engine of the Tacoma. Probably the best way to explain it is similar driving a Uhaul box truck. Very loud, coarse sound, at very low RPM (1500-2500) and the buzzing was so obvious I caught myself just looking at the steering wheel due to the sensation, quite distracting.

I see. Now, you haven't ordered one ( a truck) but your profile say's 2016 TRD. please explain...do you own one or not? My test drive experience was a little different than my actual truck I purchased. Perhaps, the one truck you test drove has an issue only. Just tryin to narrow down this problem.

Also curious if manual vs auto matters at all? I test drove a manual and didn't notice any vibration.

Just wondering how many owners are having that "vibration" at 2200 rpm? Toyota case manager is calling me today. will be interesting to see what she has to say.

I do not own one yet, I've been following the various vibration threads, especially this one > https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/unusual-vibration-at-certain-rpms.397620/ . That thread combined with the various poll threads I've seen pop up would suggest while it is a minority of trucks that seem to experience the vibration (haven't seen a single 4 cylinder owner have the true vibes yet), it still seems to be somewhere between 35-45% of owners have it. I check the various vibration threads multiple times per day, waiting for a solution or possibly an update on new trucks rolling off the line. As far as I know trucks that rolled off the line as late as the end of January still have the problem.

There have been 3 or 4 vibration poll threads started within the last 2-3 months. They all seem to average out to 35-45% of owners experiencing the vibration to one severity or another.

I honestly do not think my vibration is due to the wheel weights. If I rev up the motor in park, I can now tell the obvious signs of vibration. The truck as it drives either in town or interstate, is pretty smooth. I have thought about aftermarket exhaust, but as I get older, my daily driver, I like to be quiet. I will save the loud exhaust for my 64 Dodge 426 maxwedge, now that thing vibrates, and I expect it to. My little truck, I know its not a RX350, but the vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal is a big let down. I wonder if the motor mounts are made of some sort of inferior material, and I got the mounts that were made either on a Monday or Friday afternoon?
