They specifically said the steel was U.S. made steel. I don't remember the exact difference in price but I think it was about $20-$30 per side. If I had to do it over, I would buy the cheap springs and dump the extra money into new hardware (U-bolts, end bolts, etc.). You're going to end up buying that stuff anyway because if the springs have been in place for any real time, a torch is the only way that stuff is coming apart.

Just installed general springs today,3 hours total including breaks. Hot day today so had to take my time.ive never done this before but not a bad job for DIY. The right tools are a huge help and the fact that the general springs were an excellent fit really helped. no higher than factory springs,no squeaks so far and rides about the same, maybe a bit firmer.

Total cost 380 for springs and another 40 for some high jack stands. A nice savings :)

Also, shackles were 50 foot pounds and I went to about 60 on replacement.had no issues at the lower torque which is about what Toyota recommends though many go higher. Ymmv

Just put in 11 leaf standard duty springs from All Pro Offroad this weekend. So far so good. They seem to ride really nice and give it a good 3" lift.

All the above happened to my springs. I was told by the Spring DR. that he has seen a shit load of Taco's in for BROKEN SPRINGS !!! or flattened
I called Toyota Canada and complained  , they told me that not enough people complain so I could forget about compensation.
I think it has a lot to do with the Torque from the Factory , very sloppy if you ask me. Toyota also said to hang onto the repair bill just in case. LOL:confused:

Not enough people?! That's bogus that Toyota is just looking the other way and ignoring this problem

A little late to this party (and thread) but mine went today. 2009 w/60,700+/-. Passenger side rear. They squeaked for 6 months or so. I lived with that noise but the clack clack sucks.

No issues so far; have 2+overload leaf springs 2012 OR DCSB. I have a leer cap (no sag) and when towing 2500 lbs TT (2" sag). I installed Timbrens and barely notice any hard rebounding. No squeak so far.

Do I have the HD leafs? Does Toyota make a "factory" HD leaf spring? Thanks
