    Hi y’all.
    2002 2.7 3rzfe 4wd automatic. 200k miles.

I’m posting this video i took of my passenger side engine mount moving around, and would appreciate a second opinion as to what im seeing.

    https://youtu.be/gOh7w3_TGwg

I believe that the engine is moving around and causing stress on the exhaust, and in turn causing exhaust leaks.

I have had intermittent but recurring exhaust leaks at the downpipe. I have re-done my exhaust gaskets 4 times this year, installed new oem studs and nuts, oem gaskets, and torqued to spec, then retorqued afterwards. My methods are sound.

Here’s the sequence of events in the video:
    1. Startup/park
    2. reverse and revving with brakes applied (0:25)
    3. drive (with brakes applied)
    4. park.
      1. At 50 seconds: This is where i see the most concerning movement, front to back, going into park with brakes on.
Skip to 0:50 to see the front to back movement that I’m concerned about. I believe it’s causing extra stress on my exhaust downpipe and making exhaust leaks recurrent.

The movement likely stems from a combination dream team of slip yoke binding and axle wrap. I put a band-aid solution of a 3 leaf add-a-leaf on, which has helped significantly. I plan to install motor mounts shortly.

Does this look like i have the right idea?

Your truck is almost 20 years old and I would replace the mounts. I installed polyurethane motor mounts and the motor is rock solid. Slight vibration on idle but smooth while driving.

Hit up @Bonzen. I bought his mounts and tranny mount.

It’s really hard to tell from that angle, I don’t usually have my head in there looking at the mounts. But, it doesn’t seem that bad.

How much does the top end of the engine move? The front to back movement I might be concerned about , but I can’t really see it in the original video.

Absolutely right on the age, it should probably be done regardless at this point. If I didn't already have oem motor mounts, I'd hit @Bonzen up. I still need to get the 4wd auto trans mount, but I don't think he has mounts for the automatic trans though...

Mount look fine. I would stay away from solid mount if the vehicle is your beater. God awful vibration on idle during a complete stop. Plus your dash noise will drive you crazy during initial take off and breaking.

Go OEM or aftermarket rubber mount

Thanks for the reply @0xDEADBEEF, I appreciate it. I'll try to get a video of the top movement when I get off work.
After I recorded the video above I added a wheelers 3 leaf progressive add a leaf to combat the axle wrap, so the front to back movement will hopefully not be as prominent.

He does, that what I use but if your going to stay with OEM mounts, stay with OEM tranny mount too.

@v5ensx Yeah, I wouldn't use solid mounts on a daily but poly isn't bad. My truck doesn't rattle the dash, just a very slight vibration during idle. Now, If I were to use a solid motor mount style in a daily, no way!

    Everything.
That rubber puck is probably sheared in half to move like that. The whole motor and top half steel clamshell plate is moving but the rubber puck isn't at all.

Id say get a new set!

I have never made 2.7 mounts. There just hasnt been demand, as the engines are lighter weight and less torque than the V6 and V8 motors.

However I'm starting to get alot of requests...so its most likely a coming product.

There is little room for flexing with the type of exhaust system incorporated into a 1st gen Tacoma with a bad motor mount so 2 + 2 = ??
