So, I can only afford one major upgrade with my tax refund. What would be the wisest course of action? It's my daily driver so I can't get very wild with the suspension. I'll probably never take it beyond easy to moderate trails.

Is your 401 & or Roth maxed out? Are you debt free?

Of course that may not be my choice but, I bet you'll hear that before it's over.

    I vote booze and hookers.

I vote for the lift kit as if you get that then you will work harder to get the full armor on. Rtt means you gotta put it down every time you leave camp and or set it up every night. Your money your choice though.

I vote armor also. Full set of skids and sliders. A lift can be had cheap if you scour the classifieds. A simple tent will suffice. Your current wheels and tires are still round arent they? Hookers will get you the kind of dirty you cant power wash off.

House is paid off. Kids are grown, wife left me (thankfully). The Taco payment is my biggest debt. I can afford to splurge a little on my ride and not worry about going hungry.

Wheels and tires IMO. Armor would prob number 2 but if your only doing easy/moderate trails you probably wont put your truck at much risk to really need the armor. Lift would be my 3rd option but if you lift get a lift you may need bigger tires to fit the new stance. I feel tires would give you the best performance upgrade for when your on trails with the better grip. An RTT is a great splurge if you will use it enough to make it worth the cost. A regular tent gets the job done though. Not knowing how much you have to spend you may even be able to pull off a lift and tires for about the same cost as a bed rack and RTT. You could get a 2" lift with Bilstein or OME and new tires(keeping the stock wheels) for around 2k.

You should be able to fit a 265/75r16's without any rubbing or modifications. Theres a lot of options for tires depending on how aggresive of a tread you want. I upgraded my wheels and tires about 2 onths after getting my truck and went with 265/70r17's C rated KO2's because I didnt have a lift at the time and didnt expect to have one for a year or so. I chose the KO2's due to the more aggresive tread for better offroading, good reviews and they have been surprisingly quiet. They are a little rougher but still feel good to me on road. Its now been less than 6 months and I lifted my truck last week with OME from @HeadStrong Off-Road and spoke to Marie about what options I was interested in and she helped me with the things I was unsure about so I could come to a decision on what I wanted for my needs and desires for my truck. I've never lifted a vehicle before or had 4wd sdo its currently a big learning experience for me. Now that the lift is done I know my next tire is going to be a 285 and I will end up trimming some and having the cab mount chop done to fit them without any rubbing. I'm ok with the look of the current tires though so I will just wear them out before buying another set.

    None of those choices.

Go on a vacation to somewhere different. Enjoy a week having to make no harder decisions than what drink to order.

May I suggest the Florida keys. Marathon or isle Morada key would be 1 st choice.

They apparently don't have any parts for third gen Tacos. But I found it at http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...nsion-lift-kit-stock-load-2-ometac16lksb.html
    Is that a good price?

Well the tires are beating the hookers by a small margin with lift in a close third...

The other place will assemble the struts for me. That's mostly why I was looking at them. I can do the rest with the tools I have...I think.

Headstrong assembled mine also. The assembly is more than at the place you linked but I cant even get shipping cost from that site. Just give them a call or PM her on here and get a price from Marie, she is fantastic to deal with. She has earned my repeat business for anything they sell that I want/need.

You can skip the assembly and use the LCA as a compressor. It is super easy. I did one with the help of my buddy and by the time we got the first side buttoned up, he was already on the other side compressing the other assembly into position without my help. Honestly I'd do it this way again and again, it was no issue at all. All you need is a decent floor jack...no bottle jack!
