Prices went up because if college kids can spend money on EDM mp3s they can afford to spend more on ramen. That’s how big ramen thinks.

Right? You go into a suspension project knowing your ONE saving grace is ramen. Then they pull this shit.

But will Toyota deny the engine warranty because "ramen"?

What if you have a sticker that says "ramen will not void your warranty"? Toyota will have to replace the engine for free then imo.

Beef Ramen is apparently a performance mod, and will probably be a no-go.
    OEM ramen only.

If the sticker says it, it must be true. Plus, if a corporation like Toyota decides to dispute it and take it to court, magnuson-Moss man flys down and pays for your court fees and sits in on the case while you work, which is good, considering most of us can’t afford to take on Toyota not only in legal fees but in time away from work. Thank GOD for stickers AND magnuson-moss man.

I feel safe knowing I can use Bro science air filters engineered by people who aren’t Toyota. A homeless man that lives on the train tracks makes EXCELLENT viagra. Anyone can make anything, so cool

Guys, just a heads up.....on the left is the real OEM TRD ramen, on the right is some sketchy ramen I bought off eBay with the same part number. Lesson learned.

Wait... from a fluid mechanics standpoint, is the Ramen wet or dry? Huge difference in the dirt holding capacity and micron filtration rating. Wait... where is my A.C. certified fine test dust... brb

I know it’s early in the year but can I nominate this as post of the year? As an avid ramen consumer “Asian from Hawaii” I vote Sapporo Ichiban ramen as top quality for dry application.

    Here's my take.

I've owned a LOT of cars. On a naturally aspirated motor, i've never made more than a couple horsepower by upgrading the air filter. My highest HP N/A car was a carbureted SBC making 412whp. I made almost exactly the same dyno numbers after changing to a 4" K&N (from a 3" Fram paper). On the flip side, I owned a Subaru STi that gained almost 15whp after changing to a cone filter from the factory box. On a 200 something horsepower V6 in the Tacoma, the gain you get from a filter is negligible. When I venture off in to forced induction...then, and only then, will a different filter setup actually make any sort of difference.. But that will likely not happen, the truck makes plenty of power to make it over rocks and obstacles.

I think it is ridiculous to believe that a filter alone caused an engine failure. Even with a completely dirty filter, never replaced, at 60k miles you're going to burn up O2 sensors and get some terrible fuel mileage. It's more likely that the strain from lift/wheels/tires would cause engine failure before you could blame an air filter. I've also run no air filter on a turbo car for almost 40k miles with no adverse affects (in my ownership).

Should also be noted that "parts that aren't Toyota" would also include; Fram, Wix, Purolator, NAPA, etc... If you're commenting and voting saying that you wouldn't use K&N or aFe, but would use a NAPA filter all day long to make sure your warranty wasn't in jeopardy, you're just plain ignorant. That's an aftermarket filter, not manufactured, or used, by Toyota.

I haven't read about the 55k mile failure. But I've personally fought, and won, two instances of potential voided warranty for aftermarket parts installed on vehicles i've owned. I'm well versed in the Magnuson-Moss Act and would never hesitate to modify my vehicles in fear of voiding a warranty.

All that said, I use aFe filters and clean them at every oil change but not for any performance benefit.. I haven't priced the tacoma filters, but my previous two vehicles used $20-$25 Wix filters, which means one $75 aFe filter paid for itself after three oil changes. Unless you buy your filters at Toyota, and/or only have your truck serviced AT Toyota, you're not doing it right.

You need to read about the guy who lost two engines by 55K before you comment about the cause man. The engine had dust in the engine. The engine bay was caked with dirt and dust. This guy ran silt beds for fun. He took a pic of his truck on a rock.... in the middle of a lake.
