Also share why you chose a MT. and if it is your first.

I'm 47, been driving stick for >30 years (4 vehicles counting my taco) and just like the way I'm connected to the vehicle. Keeps me involved in my driving.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
3 out of 4 of my Toyota trucks have been manual. My current one is not because it wasn't an option...but I do miss it.

My last two cars were manual, but with a truck I wanted an AT.

I'm 26, been driving a stick since I was 17 and never owned a automatic vehicle! This is my 2016 SR 5 speed 4x4 2.7L!

Im 23, with a MT Tacoma. of the nearly 10 vehicles I have owned since getting my licence, only a small handful have been AT's, due to not having the option of choosing the exact car I wanted(limited budget for a few years). Having a MT keeps me busy and focused while driving. Having an AT is boring!

Don't want to thread crash, since I'm not in the 6MT, but I totally agree with the connected feeling. I'm in the 26-35 age group, been driving stick since my first car, and definitely prefer it. Only reason I got my '17 in the 6AT is because the numbers for "better" gas mileage and the Crawl Control - so the wife hopefully doesn't get stuck if she has to drive something a bit tricky.

I've gotten so used to driving standard that it's weird driving an automatic.

Me too duder. I stomp the left floorboard when starting my wife's auto SUV and sometimes when stopping. I have accidentally stomped the left side of the brake pedal-whoops!

Last AT I have owned was an '88 Jetta GL, 18 years ago.

As a kid, I always used to pretend-shift a La-Z-Boy recliner lever. I also loved the arcades Race/Hard Drivin'. It's really the only arcade I ever wanted to play as a kid, and I never lost the fondness for shifting.

Before that AT Jetta I had two toyota MT's ('83 pickup, '83 Supra). Only one more car before was a 1985 Monte Carlo SS (AT), which was my first car.

Since the '88 Jetta AT I've had a '94 Pickup (still own), three MT Mustangs and a '10 Jetta TDI 6MT. I'll likely never go back to AT, but compromises in the future could lead me away if some other feature takes priority.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Darn --I would have been the first over 65 had I ordered mine with the MT --wife talked me out of doing that!
Good thing for all you "youngsters" --less people will ask to borrow your truck if it has a MT!

I have never owned an automatic vehicle, feels so strange if I ever get a rental car or drive someone else's car, feels weird just sitting there.

Man, I'm glad that doesn't apply to me. I'd hate to be walking around with a boner all the time again.

Only one of the four vehicles I've had was automatic. I'm in the 26-35 age group, and I'm looking forward to teaching my son to drive manual transmission.

Aside from the wifes car which is AT, been driving MT since I was thought how to drive at the age of 12 (58 now)on dirt roads before finally becoming legal for street driving. MT will last forever with the proper maintenance and the cost to rebuild a AT makes me avoid them. I love driving a stick and controling the rpms and gear i'm in. Hearing that flowmaster is music to my ears. $.02

Good for him and good on your part to do that. I took my old truck to Sam's Club ~ 10 years ago to have tires put on it. Not one of the 5 employees knew how to drive a stick. I pulled it in and out of the shop for them.

Sucks to think about someone burning the clutch or grinding the gears b/c they were never taught how to drive MT.

I'm 31, and I like the connected feeling as well. Additionally, I think it really helps in the mountains of Colorado, for going up and down (especially without roasting brakes). Had a MT Subaru Outback before this and got used to the feel.

    19. Wish my truck was manual :(
I like to have engine breaking and just the connected feeling as others have stated.
But alas DCLB problems, no TRD Offroad and no manual trans.
When I get the urge, I steal my sisters WRX out for a spin... :burnrubber: :D
