this particular thread is for people to Rate OVTune...not complain to them that it's overpriced, not worth it, that they have a monopoly and lobby for a free trial/discount...

How about y'all start a Thread titled, "i don't have an OVTUNE, but hate it" and post to your heart's content there!!!

i appreciate this. the above is not an attempt at discussion. it's bitching and complaining. not that i really care, it's not my forum either. but as long as he's rationalizing step up to get honest about it.

I purchased my 19 Tacoma two weeks ago and have been pretty disappointed with the performance thus far, it's lazy and just feels like a pig trying to drive around the city. So I installed the OV 1.05 on my V6 AT today with the 87 performance map and I'm thoroughly impressed. The throttle response and low RPM torque make the truck run like it should have from the factory. The transmission shift points are much more predictable and I'd say the drive ability has increased by 100%. Well worth the money IMO.

I removed my Pedal Commander and started off with the 87 Performance tune. Performs very well. After a few days switched to 91 Performance and drives 100% differently! I don't know how you could say that it is a waste? Even at the 87 it feels significantly better! Way different than just using ECT. Try 91 performance and report back. You already spent the money, might as well try. Hands down best performance mod that can be done to this truck.

I actually removed my pedal commander as well when I installed the OV tune. It's interesting that you noticed a difference between 87 performance and 91. I wasn't even planning on trying the higher octane maps but after hearing this I might try the 93 performance and see how it feels on my next fill up.

Yes HUGE difference between 87 performance and 91 performance. The 87 performance does not get you the extra HP and Torque. Just take off and shifting. 93 is not available around me. Just shifting and power alone stomping on it put me at 80mph in second gear. (Just to test it out). By the way I have a 6” lift and 34” tires. Stock gears and I’m running close to 17mpg.

Good to hear, I just bought my 2019 TRD pro (voodoo blu) last weekend. Now I only have 123 miles on it so very early but it is gutless and shifts like crazy, chasing 6th gear really early. I will have to seriously consider the OV Tune

Yes I gave the pedal commander a good shot, but knowing there was ovtune that fixed everything, made it hard for me to not buy it. Lol. Everything worked out. Sold my pc for $200 so technically paid $500 for ovtune. If the shifting doesn’t bother you than give the pedal commander a shot.

Cool! Make sure to go ahead and install the flash manager software now so u can email them your computer id. Makes the process faster. If you use an antivirus it is best to turn it off while installing the flash manager software. I use AVG and it kept trying to quarantine the P5flash utility. Did not work properly until I disabled my AVG. any questions with install feel free to message me.

So I'm not seeing a whole lot of guys talk about bigger tires, armor, camper shell oh and most important 5.29 gears. I know there's some of you out there but unfortunately I work for a living and can't read every page and review. I'm just curious how this acts with the 5.29 and if its still a good choice or not I love my new gear ratio, but it didn't add power that's for sure and I'm still adding weight... thanks for any quick feedback in advance. 2017 auto 3.5 v6

I have stock gears and 34” tires with 6” lift. It will give anyone a power and torque improvement. It will greatly help with dead pedal and transmission shifting. It is not set up for any specific weight or tire size. Definitely will be a huge improvement!

Oh and the top 2 mods for best performance that I see talked about are the 5.29 and ovtune together.

33 with shell, lift, some minor weight and 4.88 and OV tune base 91 is great in Colorado. Still, some weird shifting quirks that are solved by using S5 and/or minimized with ECT button. I did the OV tune with stock gears and the 58 lb tires for over a year. It helped but not enough for 6000-11,000 elevation and 2 overdrive gears. Now I don't even notice the weight of the tires and truck just wants to go.

Just curious why you run the base instead of the performance at 91? Is there some features that you don’t want in the performance tune or something you like better about the straight 91? Thanks

Thanks for that.Im also running 33s but very soon will bump it up a bit. Im thinking 295 70 17 or maybe 280 75 16, wanted to do 35s but just too much to deal with I think bc I had enough trouble rubbing on a 285 70 17. .i'm Also picking up my overland a.r.e shell this Sunday!! How do you like yours?

I actually just wanted to start with the base 91 and see how it drove compared to 1.04 91 and then try the performance and gear lock tunes. Some reviews seem to have some frustration with the performance tune being too jumpy off the line and hard to modulate so I decided to wait until the revised 2.0 update that is not yet out. Plus I just got gears at the beginning of May and have been wanting to get a good baseline of the performance of this tune with gears.
