Order number 4119. I've had mine since the sale that occured around tax time in February 2019. I loaded version 1.05 of the 87 gearlock program on to my 2017 TRDOR in March. At first it seemed awesome, I noticed that it didnt want to downshift immediately. I've had major gearhunting issues since I started adding weight to the truck, and really whenever I travel in the mountains. By the time I loaded the Tune, I had already re-geared to 4:88's, added a shell, dual battery, SSO slim line bumper, and sliders. The 3rd gen motor/trans is obviously the problem in my case, but I bought into the hype with the Tune. After being unsatisfied with 87 gearlock, I'm currently running 87 performance... It isnt much different in my opinion. I still cant pass going up a hill, and when traveling in the mountains it still cant find the right gear. Granted the throttle response has improved, but for me the biggest problem is its inability to stay in a gear. The downside of performance is when the truck wont shift and you continue to apply pressure to the pedal at a certain point it will spike the RPM's to 5500 and zip right toward redline before downshifting back to 2k RPM's. I spoke to Matt Wilson at OV and he offered me the opportunity to test tune version 2.0. Obviously I jumped at the chance, however when he sent over the file, he also included a disclaimer basically stating that it's still flawed and they are aware of the issues I might experience after I load it. Why would I knowingly load a flawed tune? it's already been a joke.. So at this point I've given up. I'm dismantling the truck and going back to a 2nd gen. Whatever happens with the 2020 models, i doubt the motor/trans combo toyota is proceeding with will ever be remembered fondly. Bummer. I put a ton of cash and effort into building a turd gen. Lesson learned.

The tune isn't "flawed" it's a beta, and 5th/6th gear was still being worked on which was explained. Which is already been adjusted in the updated version of 2.0 sent to people.

We gave you the file to get your feedback. Thanks.

With the extra weight and going through mountains, by limiting yourself to the 87 files you didn't gain any torque or power so I can understand why with the extra weight it was unsatisfactory, especially with extra weight.
    There's a 50+ ft lb difference between 87 (stock ignition) and 91...

If you were expecting to hold 5th or 6th through mountains w/ extra weight on 87 tunes I don't think that will ever be possible and we apologize if you thought the tune was capable of this. If you factor in the change altitude with mountains it compounds the power loss.

The 2nd gen was a steaming pile of trash compared to the 1st gen... might as well take it all the way back.

One of my biggest gripes about the 1.05 tune is that it doesn't downshift by 1 gear, instead when i press the pedal harder and harder it does nothing then suddenly jumps two gears down and revs all the way up. All I can say is WTF??? I have started driving in S mode and shifting when I need to instead of relying on the shift tables, which suck ass. Heavy truck with 33" tires and 4.88 gears, 1.05 91 performance tune with over 5k miles after flashing, drives like shit.

I'd highly recommend you try our beta 2.0 for the 4.88s. The shift scheduling on 1.05 is for stock gears and stock tires..

Just so everyone is clear when reading.. the tune was developed on a stock truck.
If you have an extremely modified truck like : Lift, large heavy tires, different gears, additional weight, etc it's not going to be ideal. That's why we are working on different version for different truck setups.

I'm relieved to hear that. After reading OV's response to my feedback I thought I should try 91 before getting rid of the truck. Considering you're experiencing the same behavior, I feel ok about my initial response. I chose to avoid 91 because of fuel costs and availability in some of the more remote locations I travel to.

I still recommend that you use 91 if possible. But more than that, I'd recommend using the new version designed for trucks that are not stock and have 4.88s, and carry extra weight. The newest version of our 2.0 beta.

Order# 4820, My ECU ID is 04A61. 2018 A/T DCSB. I also have 4.88 gears and have the same shortcomings with the 91/93 performance tune dead pedal in the mid range. The 87 stock base tune is smooth enough for the most part, but I am looking forward to a performance tune that blends well with the 4.88 gears. I tried both the 91 & 93 performance tune, but the initial surge that would occur with even the slightest push of the pedal in forward/reverse was a little unnerving. I couldn't back up to hitch my camper without fear of the surge causing my truck to smack into the receiver. Do you project releasing 2.0 for ECU ID 04A61 any time soon?

That is great to hear. I know your busy with all your endeavors, so I appreciate the prompt response. One question however, do you expect a significant decrease in throttle sensitivity/surging on initial depression?

    Updated my Review

Installed 2.0 Beta 93 oct. tune and have ~200 miles on the tune 70% highway 30% city. Recently installed KM3 285/75/16 and took a hit on mpg (~1 mpg) from my KO2's. The truck previously would lug in 5th or 6th on 1.05 93 oct. tune then gun to 4th to get moving then drop down to 5th. It was getting to the point I had to feather the throttle to stay in 4th to keep it from dancing 4th and 5th entering ramps ~ 70 mph. Week ago drove 180 miles from Austin to Houston and had to drive in 5th gear to stay at 75 mph with an empty truck and was getting around 15 mpg and was stressful working the truck. The 2.0 Beta right out the gate just shifts like a normal vehicle and surprisingly makes my heavy truck feel nimble. The rides quieter since I can hear my MT tires where before it was just the engine lugging or screaming above 3k RPM. Engine RPM drives smoother in the low 1k but when accelerating the tune achieves a smoother pedal input using TC slipping. I do notice I have a coasting feeling when driving vs "Don't let off or we are braking". MPG instant read out shows to be more efficient but i'll report back once I've ran a few tanks.

You have to be on 04B04 to try the beta 2.0.
So you are stuck with 1.05, unless you update your ECU.
    2.0 isn't a final release yet.
