Awesome, I was confused as well! lol

 

I went ahead and ordered all of this today. It seems like the way to go. I already just run premium to prevent detonation. ( I know it has less energy per gram of fuel) I am looking forward to getting it set up. I am considering a thread to describe the process in my experience, so maybe it will help someone else.

 

Please share the thread if you in fact start one. I would be interested in following along with your experiences.

So we have to pay another $400 if we already purchased OV Tune? Or am I mistaken?

 

if you already own a flash kit you can upgrade for $79

 

I payed the $79 but didn't get Tune pack. It's likely something I'm doing wrong. I'll delete everything from my laptop and start over with the downloads I was sent.

Thank for giving a discount...I purchased the $700 flash kit right before you guys made the change...I was worried for a bit there *phew

 

So anyone have leads on how to get my recently purchased ov tune kit a tune from ov tune? I’ve sent them a couple emails asking how I can get it but no response....

Sorry for the ignorance, but where can I find the ecu# and the registration code?

 

To be clear, not the vftuner. I have the OV tune kit from another member that sold it to me after he deleted it from his truck

 

First go to the website and download the software (flash manager), then you can send in a registration request and identify your ECU. There are instructions on the Ovtune website.

I did the same a few years ago. Cost $325 for registration and took a couple days to get. After that, you’re good to go. Just follow the instructions.

Download tactrix drivers. Download vf tune from the link, update if you can, start ov tune, follow instructions in link to get ECU id. If you have Techstream you can also use it to get ECU Id, and update it to the newest if you like. You only get 1 ecu ID per 75 dollar credits. Then submit ECU id to VF tune, they will send a link with your tunes. I hope this helps.

 

He DOESN’T have VFtune. He has the OVtune flash kit.

You'll regret that statement once you enter the darkside of Ovtune. Hopefully your computer literate and good at deciphering thousands of pieces of info, plus missing info. The Tune is great once you figure out what works best for your application. Not just Year, Make, Model. All tacomas respond differently to different tunes. Be aggressive, ask a lot of questions and you'll get your truck dialed. This tune is NOT plug and play. It takes time and miles to figure it all out. This forumn has a lot of people willing to help.
