That and it's only a matter of time before the nissan gets a refresh. The 3rd gen body style will be around for a long time now..

oh god you remind me of when I used to work for Subaru, the self importance and entitlement is strong! Bro you have no business being in a TRUCK you belong in a Prius or Subaru trust me you'll love them

And Toyota engineers are in fact smarter than both you and OVTune (no offense to them they make a great tune), they just have vastly different engineering goals, you can dyno tune ANY vehicle since EFI and get more performance than factory even high end BMWs and Porches! I've tuned everything from my MKIII Supra to MKIV GTI and E36 M3, my Subie LGT, my K1200S fak even my 2-stroke Jet ski has a custom ECU/timing map but that doesn't mean all those OEM engineers are stupid or lazy :der:

9000 miles and 14 months ownership. Manual Tranny and no problems. Reviews by many are "bitch sessions". Just go to Amazon and read reviews there on anything. Most people don't read instructions or manuals. So when they have a problem.....complain! My 2 cents..... Read, be educated on the truck, maintain it.....drive it!

I had a 3rd gen, but ended up with one that was problematic. So, I traded it for.....another Toyota! I loved the truck, but every manufacturer has issues, so I moved on. I loved my Tacoma, one day I’ll get another. For now, I really am enjoying my 4runner, but I enjoy seeing what others are doing with their trucks.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
Silent majority wins lol...no one comes on here and says “I absolutely love my truck, thanks for reading, have a great day”...there is just one going on right now but forums are a place for issue resolution, discovery and the OCD..

I feel like they paint a bad picture but at the same time, forums are supposed to be resources for just that, not to share your emotional love for your vehicle. All forums are mainly a place to discuss issues, resolutions and mods...but this poll proves that this truck hasnt been around for a long time for no reason. These are proven vehicles no matter the generation. There is no vehicle without its own issues, some more than others, and some of the same vehicles of the same generation never see any said issues. That’s just the nature of the industry where thousands are being churned out. There will always be a flaw or defect here n there, that’s why there is a warranty...but the ones with flaws and defects seems to find thier ways to the forums in hopes of a resolution. Nothing wrong with that as long as prospective shoppers or new owners understand this concept of a forum and the specific demographic that populated it!

A co-worker and friend of mine is thinking of buying a new Taco, most likely a DCSB OR auto. We talk about it often, and I keep coming back to the same line - test drive the hell out of it. He knows I've had some problems, because when asked I won't lie and say everything has been completely rosy. He's an experienced mechanic and has owned Toyota trucks in the past - that's probably why he gets the fact that I still love my Taco. Can you guess how I voted lol?

For the record, he's aware of TW and I sincerely hope that's as far as it goes on that front!

    Not enough.
I just traded my 2011 SR5 for a 2018 TRD OR. I love my new truck! Of course I haven't had it long but my '11 had a few problems that I could never solve.

I’ve brought the truck back to the dealer 3 time for the rear diff leak(3rd times a charm, doesn’t seem to be leaking anymore) and I just went back to the dealer for the 3rd time again yesterday for the 3rd brake light leaking water into the truck. Hopefully that’s finally fixed now as well. I still love my truck!

I think that was the point- sarcasm.

There have been other similar threads, but this one has been going almost two full days and hasn't devolved into a total shitshow.

    I sincerely hope I haven't jinxed your thread @jayrobot .

Keep thinking TW will someday turn the corner with the 3rd gen bashing- this thread remaining civil is a good sign, which might have been the original intent.

I’m leery of the results. Probably more than half of the repliers in here stating no issue seem like good candidates to me for a rear diff leak. I think regardless of issues a vast majority here like the truck. I mean they purchased it anyway. A few that hated them have already sold it and haven’t a need to come back here to reply (with the acception of a few people). I myself don’t particularly love this Tacoma but it does what I need it to do. I’ve had a few small issues/complaints. I knew what I was getting myself into before hand though. People bitch on here about buying a 35k truck but in the world of trucks that’s not a lot for a brand new vehicle. I’ve seen 85k trucks with issues. I bought this so after I want to get rid of it in a year or so it’s not worth around half of what I paid for it, like a lot of other vehicles
