    4WD Conversion, No-slip locker, 5100s set at 2.5" and shackles in the back. Black 2nd gen rims, and Courser M/T tires, Bull Bar,Fog lights, UWS toolbox, CB Radio, Fiberglass antenna, 2nd Gen Badges, Deck Plate Mod, Diff Breather Mod, Sockmonkey decals.
    Ok so im looking at building sliders, and i have 2 different options:

    Please leave a comment on why you choose one over the other

    Option 1

    Single tube sliders similar to this:

    2"x2" square tubing with 3/16" wall.

    Would need about 20' of tubing.

    20' @ $3.67 a foot = $73.40

    Weight:

    20' @ 4.32 lbs. per foot = ~85 lbs


    Option 2

    Double tube sliders more like this:

    2"x2" square tubing with 1/8" wall

    Would need about 35' of tubing.

    35' @ $2.70 = $94.50

    Weight:

    33' @ 3lbs per foot = 99 lbs



    I kinda want to cut down on weight, but i dont want to skimp on strength.

    What do you think the best option would be?

    Out of those styles I like Option 1 best.

    Well the way you have them listed either should be more than strong enough to do the job. The key is the frame plates and gussets. Honestly I say try doing the single tubes just to be different. Your not going to notice any difference in the truck with the minimal difference in weight between the two designs. Want to make them resist bending even more, since the bulk of the hits come from the bottom turn the tube on edge so it looks like a diamond. Would make for alot more work making the legs since you'd have to notch out each one but would look cool.

    You joke about that but seems like the new thing is to plate the top of your sliders..... Take a look around at how many companies are offering that now.

    Thats an awesome idea! I think i am going to do that, just to be different, but what about jacking with the high lift? would i have a problem if the tube were turned like that?

    Would the single tube sliders be strong enough if i was to use 1/8" wall?

    You'd have no problem with the hi-lift. And if going with just a single tube why not go overkill and use 3/16. Might as well. It will still be lighter and you'd never tear it up.
