yes and it is shitty as all get out, i have driven one several times where im at right now....undisclosed location.......deployed, and it has the D4 Diesel........a turbo the size of a small snail, yes, it may spool almost instantly but it has no get up and go what so EVER, the 5-speed standard does shift very nice and smooth though

So I drove one of those 2.7 Turbo diesels yesterday... they are garbage! No power, loud, and exhaust smell was bad... I'll pass

Do you knew if it had a turbo charger on it? That would make a bigggg difference...

they obviously need to take advantage of some of the newer diesel technology out there it is viable for them to change the midsize truck world in the united states. anyone thats hates diesels i say go drive the 335 with the turbo diesel it will change the way you think about diesel's period. i don't want some old ass oil burner, i want a quiet engine bay a loud hiss from the turbo and torque! i don't really care if it smells like a hundred tart carts going full bore when i come to a stop and get a whiff. i just want the torque the mpg and the reliability.

i would b happy with the diesel and a mechanical front end none of this electric locker bs that cuts the economy and puts more strain on the front end

I'd like to have that option of an engine. I'd also like to get back to the manual t-case instead of the switch. It was nice to know that you were in 4wd by feeling the gears catch

I agree. Look at the 4Runner. It went from a offroad SUV in the 80's, to a little softer in the 90's to bascially a Lexas now

It's actually an "auto disconnect differential". Not e-locker. But yeah. :)

Seriously far too many of these threads. What they need to do is bring this vehicle to the USA. It'll cost you at least $70k though, plus all the ARB extras. Pure awesome though.

My .02 cents and these are opinions.

I like diesel engines. More efficient, low end torque to die for, and in the old days far more durable. I've owned two: a 78 diesel Rabbit (bullet proof!) and an 82 6.2l Suburban. Both of those vehicles were unbelievably reliable and cheap to own/run. I sold the Rabbit with 238K and the drive train was still solid and reliable (the rest of the car had typical VW electrical issues). The Burb was one of my favorite trucks. Big, powerful and it never broke. Sold it with 219k and the last I saw it the guy was just over 300k.

Modern diesels however, have all kinds of crap bolted on to meet EPA regs. For Gods sake they squirt urea into the combustion process now! There is so much engine management and stuff to go wrong with them that the reliability is not what it used to be. The Dodge Cummins is probably the best diesel engine available on the US market, but the rest of that truck is shit.

How many of you have owned solid axle trucks? I've owned Dodge and Chevy solid axles from both the 70s and 80s. Yes they are durable but they ride like shit and you need a football field to turn one around. IF I planned to build a dedicated rig for wheeling I'd want to have a solid axle (Dana please). But for daily use and MOST off-roading, the IFS on modern trucks are pretty good and do the job.

I do wish they'd go to manual engagement for the 4x4 like the old days. I never had a failure with one of those. I've had a couple electrical issues and had an actuator go out once. Not a horrible record considering but levers and locking hubs are not a bother to me.

So I voted for Diesel (if they don't require piss to run), and IFS.

There's no way it will come with a solid axle. However, I could see a diesel in a future tacoma truck. Whether it be a tacoma or not.

8/10 Mercedes sold in Canada are diesels.

No diesel for me. I USED to think I wanted one but not now. Too expensive to buy. Too expensive to run and not any more reliable or long term durable than a nicely designed gas engine. More torque....I'll grant you that. Toyota made a great torquey gas engine in the I-6 that we never got either. Never understood why they made a V-6 3.0 for trucks and a 3.0 I-6 for a car. When I have my own car Co. I'll do things different I tell ya.
