Yep typical in software... reprogram to fix one thing; break 3 other things that were previously "fine"

I also think the 3 to 4 flare is a pressure or H/W issue.

The engine -trans integration is about as poor of a job that I've seen in a good while. It's almost as if the engine and transmission folks lived in different countries and simple exchanged ICDs and called it a day. And seatbelt Mike did absolutely zero System level testing, analysis and verification.

Here is a thought. The AC60F in a new transmission, built by a company (Aisin Warner) that builds a cornucopia of different transmissions. That said, and trying to minimize time to market, what is Aisin used one or more apply pistons, for the new transmission, that were common to another model, but not ideally clearanced to the bores of the AC60 case, giving line pressure leak down. This is just a hypothesis for a possible shift flair condition. There could be a valve body sealing issue as well. Software can attempt to mask off the issue.

oh well, you can fight the issues or just give up like I did. Life's too short. I'm enjoying the trade into a new Silverado V8. I loved my Tacoma for many many reasons, but just couldn't take the lack of Torque and Tranny issues anymore.

Jeff, I completely understand. I am an engineer. I am internally driven to figure out and solve the problem.

I have no issues with update. It's significantly improved the shifting and the only thing I've noticed is that it will sometimes hold 3rd gear a little too long. But that doesn't bother me as much as shifting to early (like it did before).

I get the same or better gas mileage.

If only my brakes didn't buzz Everytime I hit them at low speeds...

Thanks Taco. I am beginning to wonder if the real problem is incorrect valve body pressures. I know that holding 3rd gear longer will increase line pressure and help prevent a slip or flair. If I am correct, it would be better to correct the valve body, or clutch actuators than to cover up the pressure issue with software.

Definitely improved the delay between P - D - R, all those symptoms are gone. I don't have 500+ miles on it to say if the new "feeling" of the TSB will stick. So far I'm noticed taking a 1 mpg loss with this update.

Got mine done 4 days ago and the only bad thing I've noticed so far is going up hill it will stay in gear and not want to shift. Other than that it's been good so far but I only have a about 200 miles since it was done.

Getting this done in the next couple of weeks. If problem continues, seriously considering trading it in on a 15.. The tranny on this truck is just unacceptable..

.28, what problems are you seeing with your transmission? Did you have the TSB done?

It seems to be 4th gear and under normal driving while going up an incline. If i take my foot off the gas it stays there too and won't upshift for a few seconds. Other than that it's better than it was before.

Yes I had it done on Saturday. I've had issues with the dealer I bought it from not wanting to help me and telling me it was all normal stuff. I have a good friend who works at Toyota and after contacting Toyota with no help I called in a favor. He did the TSB and customized some other stuff on Saturday. I got him to put on my Pelfrybilt aluminum gas tank skid too since he had nothing better to do. HAHAHA!

    Bob,
Which gear is the truck shifting into when you witness the flair?
