Here are the facts: I have a 2012 Tacoma TRD Off Road w/ factory 265/70/16 wheels and crappy BFG Trail Terrain Tires. I am installing a 3" OME lift. What tire size do the TW pros recommend? Pics are greatly appreciated to reinforce your opinion! Thanks.

I've never seen a 255/85/16 available. Interesting though.

Your poll says 285/70/16, is that a typo?

from the tire calculator; 265/70 255/85 Difference
    Diameter inches (mm) 30.61 (777.4) 33.07 (839.9) 2.46 (62.5) 8%
    Width inches (mm) 10.43 (265) 10.04 (255) -0.39 (-10) -3.8%

less than a 1/2" in width between the two, but almost 2 1/2" in height.

I have 265s now and think that if your getting 0 offset rims or less, you should get 285...

265/75r16 are way too small for a 3 inch lift. It won't look right. Those tires for perfect with no lift. Looks awkward with a lift. A few others, and I did 3" and 35s. Go with 295. You'll love the look. And that's far from "crazy"

evanmb31, no not a typo, a 285/70/16 is just under 32X11.50, I think it would require less trimming.

There's no such thing though. If you used the tire size calculator, you can enter whatever number you want and it will still give you measurements. Even if there isn't such a size of what you entered. There's 285/70/17 though.

EDIT: Unless you somehow found a tire. I wanna see.

Oh ok, i just assumed that because 285/75/16 is a very popular size here with 3 inch lifts and there is a very limited selection when it comes to 285/70/16. Nitto trail grapplers or toyo MT are all i am seeing in that size. But i also mentioned 255/85/16 which also has a very limited selection, all mud terrains like 285/70/16.

spoonman, what about power consumption? I like the gas pedal. Not so worried about gas consumption. I ran 305/70's on my FJ, which is a 34"X12" tire.
