Mine is named Mareeba, after the town in the Atherton Tablelands in Queensland, Australia.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mareeba

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atherton_Tableland

A couple of years ago I drove out to Undara and down to Townsville - about 1300 km in all on the left side of the road.

The bush is very empty. You can go for a long ways on the highway and not see another vehicle. Fully half the vehicles I saw out that far were 4x4s, often with snorkels. There are lots of places that can flood - flash floods typically. But the spaces are so vast, and Australia's population so small, that it could be a very long time before any government vehicles can make it out to repair roads, etc.

One of the funniest things was seeing posts with height markers in the places that typically flooded. Apparently this was so drivers could see how deep the water is, so they could decide whether to ford the water with their snorkel-equipped 4x4.

So, the name reminds me that part of the goal is to make sure I can make it out and back again without getting stranded.

When I had a Tundra, it came with a lift, Mickey Thompson tires, and Moto Metal rims. The salesperson was saying "This is a man's truck! You can tell that a man owned this thing!" So my wife and I named it "The Man Truck." With the new one, I can either call it the mantruck or the red baron, but I haven't decided yet.
