That’s a large part of me being back in a Tacoma… They’re designed to sacrifice themselves for the safety of the occupants. It made insurance less expensive, too; $50K to replace a truck is a lot cheaper than $250K+ in medical bills.

I didn't set out to choose the trim level. The trim level chose me. That is, to get a manual transmission Access Cab in Army Green, it had to be a TRD Sport.

I waited 4mo for mine to come in. 21 TRD OR MT with tech and LED lights. The MT was a must. Long wait but worth it to me.

And a thexthy beast it is!

Mine chose me, but in a different manner. I was looking for an OR with a stick, found a Pro listed & priced as such. Called the seller, not to buy, but make them aware of the error. The said they could edit the description but the price was already set & offered to sell it as such. Not all good intentions are without reward. :D

It was a head on, I saw it coming. I just kept moving to the shoulder, slowly, then she lost it. Did a 360*, then hit me.

Number one choice for me was a TRD off road DCLB 6M. Not available here and no 6M DCLB's.

Second choice, TRD Sport DCLB with only one trans choice, Auto. Had to have a long box.

Vast majority of Tacoma's I see here are DCLB TRD Sports. Toyota does not sell 2WD Tacoma's here.

TW Taco Trim n Tran Poll rev 7.17.jpg TW Taco Trim Poll rev 7.17.jpg TW Taco Trans Poll rev 7.17.jpg **Charts revised 7.17.22**

Charts of current poll results, sorted from highest to lowest. After making the first chart with overall results, I made two others showing trim-only and transmission-only out of curiosity. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

*Since the poll started without transmission choices for the SR Trim, chart shows SR (prior to option), SR-A and SR-M as three distinct categories.

** Since I erroneously added SR5-Manual, original SR5 (prior to option) and SR5-Auto are combined in the chart.

Will revise periodically if there is any interest. 230 responses asof 7/17/22.
    Thanks to everyone participating.

You do realize your poll only represents Tacoma world 3rd gen ownership, not Tacoma ownership overall.
Maybe back in 2019 I saw a breakout, from Toyota published in one of the media outlets, that showed the sales breakout by model.
If I remember correctly, SR5 was the leader by far and between SR5 and SR was over 60%. Next was OR at 20% then Sport, Limited and Pro we're the remaining 20%.
I do remember the Pro was around 6%.

Yes; this poll came out of a discussion amongst 3rd gen owners, and was intended for TW members with that gen.

the poll really only represents the 3rd gen ownership willing to participate in a model-specific forum, which is an even tinier subset of total sales.

what i'm most interested in long term for this poll is the manual/automatic distribution-- it currently indicates that the manual drivers are more interested in forum participation than the automatic drivers.

SR5 has been around for decades in their compact 2 and 4wd pickups. Its just a good all around mid size truck now, except for serious off road use.

In my neck of the woods in South Carolina, the overwhelming Tacoma I see is SR5 for sure and almost all Tacomas here are 2WD.
And, on a Saturday at Lowe's, those trucks are loaded with all the do it yourself goodness that they sell.
